Before the Baltimore Ravens’ regular season opener against the New York Jets on September 11, Lamar Jackson hopes to get his contract situation resolved. On Saturday, the former AP NFL Most Valuable Player was questioned on any firm deadlines for negotiations.
“Yes, it will soon. Season is approaching, “Jackson remarked. “We’ll be successful for the season.” It seems reasonable that Jackson would want to avoid that distraction in the summer given that he is representing himself in contract discussions. The quarterback said that he has “no updates” on the progress of the contract negotiations. He is serious about a deadline, though. Because Jackson said “Yeah, for sure” when asked if it’s fair to argue that Week 1 is a firm deadline.
All offseason long, the Ravens have been unequivocal that they want Jackson to stay in Baltimore for the long term. “Lamar is practicing every day and doing a fantastic job. Its business component is its business component. I have every faith that it will be completed when it is” said coach John Harbaugh.
