According to Wednesday’s news reports, the Buffalo Bills have agreed to a one-year contract with former Denver Broncos punter Sam Martin. Buffalo later made the purchase public. Matt Araiza, a sixth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, was released by the Bills, leaving a void that Martin fills. Two days after Araiza and two other people were named in a civil lawsuit for allegedly gang raping a juvenile at an off-campus party at San Diego State University last year, the Bills released Araiza on Saturday. Nine-year NFL veteran Martin was let go by the Broncos on Monday after making it clear he wouldn’t accept a wage cut, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. For the Broncos in 2021, Martin averaged 46 yards per punt across 67 attempts. Martin’s sixth season with a punt average of at least 46 yards. The Detroit Lions drafted him in the fifth round of the 2013 draft.
