The 2022 season for Michael Thomas is most likely over. Dennis Allen, the head coach of the New Orleans Saints, said on Thursday that the receiver will have surgery for a toe injury and would be put on injured reserve. Although Thomas’ comeback date is unknown, according to Allen, he won’t be returning this year. Thomas’ first significant season after suffering with persistent injury difficulties that cost him more than half of 2020 and all of 2021 began in 2022. In his first three games, he had a solid start, hauling in 16 catches for 171 yards and three touchdowns. However, ailments reared their ugly heads once more, keeping him out of play ever since Week 3. The receiver, who set the single-season catches record in 2019 and caught 470 passes for 5,512 yards and 32 touchdowns across his first four professional seasons, will end 2022 as another injury-hindered campaign. Thomas has spent the most of the previous three years seeking to recuperate and repair injuries rather than carrying this momentum.
