With the news on Wednesday that Joey Bosa will have surgery for his damaged groin and has been put on injured reserve, the Chargers’ terrible luck took a tiny turn for the worst. Just before a Wednesday afternoon club release made the Bosa journey to IR official, coach Brandon Staley briefed the media on the plan.
According to NFL Network Insider, Bosa underwent surgery particularly to treat a core muscle ailment, and he is anticipated to miss more than a month of action. Bosa joined the list of injured players that also includes left tackle Rashawn Slater, quarterback Justin Herbert, center Corey Linsley, and receivers Keenan Allen and Jalen Guyton in the first quarter of Los Angeles’ shocking 38-10 defeat to the fledgling Jacksonville Jaguars. Some of the named players, including Bosa, may be able to return as soon as this week, while others will likely need more time off. He could miss even longer than a month.
