Coach Brandon Staley of the Los Angeles Chargers said that quarterback Justin Herbert is “OK” after the quarterback seemed to have an abdominal injury late in the Chargers’ 27-24 defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs. Staley said that he will learn more about Herbert’s condition on Friday. Herbert got X-rays after the game but chose not to talk to the media. Herbert was struck in the backfield with a few minutes remaining in the fourth quarter and took a blow to the ribs, falling to the ground hard and gripping his stomach. Before moving to the sidelines unaided, Herbert lay on the ground for a few minutes as team physicians examined him. Herbert missed the required one play, and backup quarterback Chase Daniel filled in. Herbert returned to the field and continued to play while clearly hurting after each hit. He never left the field again after helping his team win.
