Due to a Sunday incident in Mexico City, the Arizona Cardinals have fired offensive line coach/running game coordinator Sean Kugler, according to head coach Kliff Kingsbury, who spoke to the Arizona Republic on Tuesday. According to Kingsbury, “We relieved him of his duties, and he was sent home Monday morning before the game.” Every time you make that kind of a personnel shift, it might be difficult. The team hasn’t provided any information on the Kugler incident. The Week 11 matchup between the Arizona Cardinals and the San Francisco 49ers took place when the Cardinals were in Mexico City. Kugler, 56, had been employed by the Cardinals as their offensive line coach since 2019. From 2001 to 2005, Kugler served as the tight ends coach for the Detroit Lions. He has previously worked as an assistant coach with the Buffalo Bills, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Denver Broncos. Brian Natkin, an assistant offensive line coach, and Steve Heiden, a tight ends coach, will now oversee the offensive line’s training.
