Dan Campbell thinks the 2022 season’s Rich Strike might be the Lions

Long-shot Rich Strike shocked the odds in the 148th Kentucky Derby back in May by bursting past favorites in the closing stages of a tumultuous race. In the 2022 NFL season, the Detroit Lions want to be the Rich Strike. Dan Campbell, the head coach, said, “We sort of feel like we could be Rich Strike here. In Campbell’s first season as head coach, the Lions had a 3-13-1 record, but they fought hard down the line, finishing 3-3 in December and showing toughness in numerous other games. The Lions have spent the last four seasons around the bottom of the NFC North, haven’t made the playoffs since 2016, and have infamously failed to win a postseason game since 1991. There is hope that Detroit may advance in its most recent reconstruction this offseason. Next week, The Lions will also be featured in an episode of HBO’s “Hard Knocks.”
