Betting Preview: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Los Angeles Rams

In this Sunday NFC matchup, Los Angeles is tabbed as the heavy favorite and is currently giving up 10 points. The Buccaneers are also receiving +325 moneyline odds while the Rams are -475. It appears that there will likely be multiple good live betting opportunities during the showdown, and oddsmakers have set the over/under (O/U) at 50.5 points.

The betting odds have swayed slightly from when they were originally set. The line opened at -10 and the game’s O/U was initially set at 50.

The Buccaneers have lost 0.9 units this season and are 1-2 against the spread (ATS). The team’s posted an O/U record of 1-2.

The Rams have been a nice surprise for moneyline bettors this year, gaining 3.0 units. They’re 3-0 ATS and also have an O/U record of 1-2.

The Buccaneers have gone 1-2 straight up (SU) in 2019 while the Rams are 3-0 SU.

The Buccaneers are looking to get back on track after a narrow 32-31 defeat to the Giants in Week 3 where their secondary allowed the Giants to air it out for 336 yards and two touchdowns. Sterling Shepard posted a productive day for the Giants in that one with 100 yards and a score on seven catches. On the offense, Jameis Winston completed 23-of-37 passes for 380 yards, three scores and one interception. Ronald Jones II (80 rushing yards on 14 attempts) and Peyton Barber (48 yards on 13 carries) provided the running attack in the loss while Mike Evans (eight receptions, 190 yards, three TDs) and Chris Godwin (three catches, 40 yards) manned the receiving duties.

Los Angeles enters this one following a 20-13 win over Cleveland in Week 3. The allowed the Browns to put up 195 passing yards and 95 rushing yards. Nick Chubb was a bright spot in the defeat for Cleveland, posting 96 rushing yards on 23 attempts, along with 35 yards and a score on four catches. For Los Angeles, Jared Goff completed 24-of-38 passes for 269 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Todd Gurley II (43 rushing yards on 14 attempts) led the ground game in the win as Cooper Kupp (11 receptions, 102 yards, two TDs) and Brandin Cooks (eight catches, 112 yards) led the pass-catching attack.

Tampa Bay has run the ball on 47.6 percent of its offensive possessions this year while Los Angeles has a rush percentage of 45 percent. The Buccaneers have run for 121.7 yards/game and have only one score via handoffs this year. The Rams are totaling 123.7 rush yards per game and have four total rushing TDs.

If 2019 numbers are any indication, then it’s looking like the Rams should hold an edge along both the offensive and defensive fronts, as their offensive line has allowed just six sacks while the D-line has logged eight sacks. The Buccaneers offensive line has allowed 10 sacks and their defense has got to opposing QBs just nine times.

The Bucs offensive scheme has averaged 260.7 yards in the air overall and has five passing TD so far. The Rams have produced 246 pass yards per contest and have four total pass scores.

Defensively, Tampa Bay has let opponents rush for an average of 69.7 yards and pass for 278.3 yards per game. The Rams are allowing an adjusted net yards per pass attempt (ANY/A) of just 3.96 to opponents, while the Buccaneers have given up a 6.49 ANY/A.

Offensively, Winston is up to 574 passing yards on the year, and has connected on 59 percent of his 73 attempts with four scores through the air and four interceptions. Winston has a 5.36 adjusted net yards per pass attempt overall, although that number is 8.39 over the last two games.

In the other huddle, Jared Goff has managed to complete 47-of-77 passes for 455 yards, three TDs and three INTs. Goff’s ANY/A sits at 4.54 for the season and 6.90 over his last two games.
