Betting Preview: Green Bay Packers vs. Seattle Seahawks

Seattle is the road underdog in this NFC game and is currently receiving 4 points. The Seahawks are also receiving +150 moneyline odds while the Packers are -170. If one squad can create a bunch of points early it’ll generate a nice betting opportunity in-game. Oddsmakers have determined the over/under (O/U) to be 46 points.

With the spread opening at -4 and the O/U originally set at 46.5, odds have swayed a little.

Both of these teams have rewarded gamblers this year as the Seahawks have recorded 3.8 units and the Packers are ahead 10.6 units.

The Seahawks have gone 12-5 straight up (SU) in 2019 while the Packers are 13-3 SU.

When these two squads faced each other a year ago, Seattle knocked Seattle off by a field goal 27-24.

The Seahawks are coming off a 17-9 victory over Philadelphia last week. Russell Wilson completed 18 passes for 325 yards and one touchdown. Travis Homer (12 rushing yards on 11 attempts) spearheaded the running attack. DK Metcalf (seven receptions, 160 yards, one TD) and Tyler Lockett (four catches, 62 yards) shared the receiving duties in the win.

Green Bay just got a 23-20 win over Detroit two weeks ago. Aaron Rodgers completed 27-of-55 passes for 323 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Aaron Jones (100 rushing yards on 25 attempts) led the running game as Davante Adams (seven receptions, 93 yards, one TD) and Allen Lazard (four catches, 69 yards, one TD) led the pass-catching attack in the win.

Seattle’s run the ball on 48.1 percent of its offensive possessions this year while Green Bay has a rush percentage of 41.8 percent. The Seahawks have rushed for 133.2 yards/game and have 16 touchdowns on the ground this year. The Packers are putting up 112.2 rush yards per game and have 18 total rushing TDs.

If 2019 results can translate to this game, then it seems like the Packers could hold an advantage along both the offensive and defensive fronts, since their offensive line has yielded just 36 sacks while their D-line has logged 41 sacks. The Seahawks offensive line has allowed 49 sacks and their defense has sacked opposing QBs on just 35 occasions.

The Seahawks offensive scheme has averaged 260.9 yards through the air overall and has 32 passing TDs so far. The Packers have recorded 251.1 pass yards per game and have 26 total pass scores.

Seattle has let opponents rush for an average of 117.8 yards and pass for 269.6 yards per game. The Green Bay D has allowed 251 yards per game to opposing passers and 120.1 yards per game to opposing runners. Both teams allow similar adjusted net yards per pass attempt (ANY/A) to opponents, as the Seahawks have given up an ANY/A of 6.12 to opposing QBs, while the Packers are yielding an ANY/A of 5.68.

Offensively, Wilson has amassed 4,202 passing yards this year, and has connected on 66 percent of his 506 attempts with 30 scores through the air and only five interceptions. Wilson has a 7.69 adjusted net yards per pass attempt, including 8.35 over the last two outings.
