New Orleans Pelicans vs. Charlotte Hornets Betting Odds

Both teams lost big in their last contest. The Pelicans (3.5-point favorites) were defeated by the Toronto Raptors, 122-104, while the Hornets (7-point underdogs) fell to the Boston Celtics, 108-87. The New Orleans game finished 13.5 points under the projected point total of 239.5, while the Charlotte game finished 20 points under the projected point total of 215.

New Orleans had a better offensive rebounding percentage (24.6 vs. 20.4) while Charlotte did a terrific job of converting from the charity stripe (15-21; 71.4 percent). Miles Bridges played a pivotal role for Charlotte with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Brandon Ingram played well for New Orleans, putting up 27 points and seven rebounds.

This series was highly competitive last year, as the teams split their two games last season. In the last contest, the Hornets won 115-109. Charlotte made good use of their 32 trips to the charity stripe, making 27 of them (84.4 percent). New Orleans, meanwhile, was 14-17 (82.4 percent).

Vegas has a tendency to place the total low when the Pelicans are involved, as six of their seven contests have finished over the O/U total. New Orleans holds records of 1-7 straight up (SU) and 2-5 against the spread (ATS).

Games including the Hornets have no tendency in regards to the total, as there has been an even split between games finishing over and under. Moreover, Charlotte owns records of 4-4 SU and 5-3 ATS.

Charlotte could put on a ball-control clinic in this battle. Dating back to last season, Charlotte ranks second in the league at avoiding errors (turnover percentage of 11.9 percent), while New Orleans has forced the seventh-fewest turnovers (12.6 percent). Moreover, the Pelicans rank 21st in free throw attempt (FTA) rate (0.190), while the Hornets rank second in opponents’ FTA rate (0.177).
