Betting Preview: Wyoming Cowboys vs. Missouri Tigers

In this Saturday game, Missouri is projected as the big favorite and is currently giving up 18 points. In order to take the favorite, moneyline bettors would currently have to spend $1,500 to win $100 back on the Tigers (-1500). The Cowboys are getting +810 moneyline odds. If one team can create a bunch of points early it will create a worthy betting scenario in-game. Vegas has set the over/under (O/U) at 52.5 points.

The line originally opened at 15.5 while the game’s O/U was initially set at 54, so it seems that sharp bettors are siding with both the Tigers and the under.

Against the spread (ATS) last season, the Tigers were 6-6-1. The over cashed in six of their games while the under hit in six. The Cowboys put together an ATS record of 5-7 with an O/U record of 5-6.

Overall, the Cowboys were 6-6 straight up (SU) in 2018 while the Tigers went 8-5 last year. Against conference foes, the Tigers finished 4-4 SU and the Cowboys were 4-4 SU versus Mountain West teams. The Tigers finished 4-0 SU against teams from outside the SEC while the Cowboys were 2-2 SU against non-conference teams.

When these two squads faced each other a year ago, Missouri knocked Missouri off soundly 40-13.

The Tigers averaged 214.9 passing yards per game and 186.8 rushing yards per game against their eight SEC opponents last year. They managed to put up 30.9 points per game against those opponents while giving up 24.5 per contest. When facing out-of-conference schools, those figures improved across the board, as they averaged 49.0 points and 24.3 points-allowed, in addition to 385.0 pass yards per game and 218.3 rush yards per contest.

Against non-conference foes in 2018, the Cowboys passed for 147.0 yards per game and ran for 157.0 per game on their way to 19.5 points per outing. When playing just MWC opponents, the offensive unit managed 21.3 points per game by averaging 123.5 passing yards and 220.6 rushing yards. The Cowboys defense allowed 25.5 PPG to non-conference foes and 20.3 to MWC teams

If the numbers from 2018 can translate to this year, then it’s looking like the Tigers should hold an edge when it comes to applying pressure. Their offensive line gave up only 13 sacks last season while the D-line logged 26 sacks. The Cowboys offensive line allowed 24 sacks last year and their defense sacked opposing QBs just 19 times.
