The San Diego Padres are playing host to the Miami Marlins at PETCO Park. Fox Sports San Diego will broadcast this NL matchup and the first pitch is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. ET.

San Diego (-170) is a sizable favorite against Miami (+160) and oddsmakers have set the Over/Under for this afternoon’s game at 8 runs (-110 for the over and -110 for the under). Bettors can also wager on the game’s spread with the current runline odds standing at Marlins +1.5 runs (-135) and Padres -1.5 runs (+115).

The Marlins have gone 20-36 SU this year and are 24-31 against the spread (ATS). They’ve lost 6.9 units for gamblers taking the moneyline and 14.4 units ATS. Miami is 3-4 ATS over its last seven games and the total has gone under in four of those seven. The Padres, on the other hand, are 30-28 SU and 26-31 ATS. Trevor Richards will get the start for the Marlins. The right-handed Richards (2-5, 3.82 ERA) has racked up 55 strikeouts in 61.1 innings so far. He has yet to face the Padres this year and did not record a start against them in 2018, either.

The Padres are turning to lefty Matt Strahm (2-4, 3.21 ERA), who has 51 strikeouts and 11 walks, in addition to a WHIP of 1.13. Strahm did not register a start against the Marlins in 2018.

San Diego’s pitching staff has given up 4.3 runs per game overall in 2019 as a unit. Its starters have a 3.90 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 8.3 strikeouts per nine innings. The bullpen has a 4.35 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 10.4 K/9.

The San Diego hitters have produced 3.9 runs per contest, including 4.9 per game over its last 10 games and 3.0 per game over their last five. The team has hit .205/.281/.335 over its last five matchups and is 2-3 SU during that span.

First baseman Eric Hosmer and third baseman Manny Machado have led the Padres’ offense this year. Hosmer is hitting .295/.342/.459 with nine home runs, 34 RBIs and 31 runs scored, and Machado is batting .255 with nine homers, 27 RBIs and 27 runs.

For the visitors, Miami’s pitching staff allowed 4.6 runs per game and its starters own a 4.02 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 7.98 K/9. The bullpen has an ERA of 5.24, along with a K/9 of 9.99.
