F1-Austrian-Grand-Prix-Odds

F1 Odds: The Austrian Grand Prix is set for Sunday, July 3rd with Lewis Hamilton listed as the 6-5 favorite. This race that can be seen on CNBC is the 9th race of the Formula One season and it has been almost all Mercedes this year with Nico Rosberg winning five times, Hamilton winning twice with only Max Verstappen breaking up the Mercedes domination. It is expected to be another Mercedes show on Sunday with Hamilton the 6-5 top choice and Rosberg the 8-5 second choice.

Here is a look at Sunday’s race and F1 predictions.

Rosberg Looking to Continue Austrian Success

The last two Austrian Grand Prix’s have been one by Nico Rosberg. There were no F1 races in Austria for a decade until 2014 when the Spielberg circuit was put back on the calendar and it has been all Rosberg since as he won in 2014 and 2015. Rosberg sees Hamilton as his main threat this week but he says to not forget about the Williams duo of Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas. “It’ll be tough against the Williams cars in particular, as they’ve pushed us hard there before,” Rosberg said. “But I think our Silver Arrow is still definitely the best package on the grid and I can’t wait to see what it can do in Spielberg. To have two wins from two races at any track is pretty special, so if I could make it three in three that would be awesome.”

No Serious Challengers to Mercedes in Austria

There are not expected to be any real challengers to Rosberg and Hamilton in Austria as there are very few opportunities to pass. “It’s a short run to the first corner there and generally my starts and first corners have been strong this season, so if I can qualify well there’s a good chance of a top result,” Rosberg said, “I’m looking forward to the weekend.” The Spielberg circuit has some long straights and Mercedes just has too much power for the other teams on a circuit with fewer corners than other tracks. “We’ve got an old school track there in Spielberg.” Hamilton said, “It’s fast, with a good flow to it. It’s tough to overtake but there are places you can try something different so that’s a good challenge. It’s definitely a big advantage starting up front there, though, so I need to get back on it in qualifying and do a better job than last time out.”
