Detroit Pistons at Chicago Bulls Betting Odds

Both teams were beaten in their last matchup. The Pistons (4-point favorites) were defeated by the Charlotte Hornets, 109-106, while the Bulls (8.5-point underdogs) fell to the Milwaukee Bucks, 115-101. The Detroit game finished 5 points under the projected point total of 220, while the Chicago game went 14.5 points under the projected point total of 230.5.

Detroit did a terrific job of making free throws (11-11; 100.0 percent) while Chicago held Milwaukee to an offensive rebounding percentage of 17.8 (below the 25.8 mark opponents have averaged against Chicago this season). Daniel Gafford had a solid performance for Chicago, contributing 21 points and five rebounds. Meanwhile, Detroit received a boost from Andre Drummond, who put up 16 points and 20 rebounds.

In their first matchup this year, Wendell Carter Jr. led the Bulls to a 112-106 victory. He registered a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. The two teams combined to score 218 points, which was just over the projected point total of 214.5, and Chicago covered as a 4-point favorite. Chicago’s 0.528 effective field goal percentage was its biggest advantage over Detroit, who had a mark of 0.518.

Vegas is known to set the total low when the Pistons are playing, as 61.5 percent of their games have finished over the O/U total. Detroit heads into the contest with records of 4-9 straight up (SU) and 4-7-2 against the spread (ATS).

There does not appear to be a trend for Bulls games in regards to the total, as there has been an even split between games finishing over and under. Moreover, Chicago is 4-10 SU and 6-8 ATS.

This has potential to be a sloppy game for the offense of Detroit. Detroit ranks 29th in the NBA in ball protection (turnover percentage of 16.7 percent), while the pesky defense of Chicago forces the most turnovers in the NBA (17.4 percent).
