They had an extraordinary free throw rate of 0.466 (above their season average of 0.251) and a turnover percentage of 13.8 (worse than their season average of 10.7). Western Carolina was 0.153 and 23.4, respectively, for those same stats.
Minnesota could have their way on the defensive side of the ball as they face off against one of the NCAAs worst offenses. Since last season, the Golden Gophers rank 12th in effective field goal percentage allowed (0.454), while Alabama A&M is 343rd in effective field goal percentage (0.442).
Since last season, the Bulldogs have had records of 2-30 straight up (SU) and 1-1 against the spread (ATS). There does not appear to be a trend for Alabama A&M games since last year in regards to the O/U total as there has been an even split between games finishing over and under.
The Golden Gophers, on the other hand, are 28-9 SU and 21-14 ATS since last season. Minnesotas games have had a tendency to go over the O/U total over that same period (62.9 percent).
