Giants declare the return of vintage blue uniforms

The Giants are going back in time to that year, 1987. The Giants will wear these vintage blue uniforms in two “Legacy Games” this season: Week 4 against Chicago and Week 13 against Washington, according to New York. The Giants’ red-and-white-trimmed blue jerseys are back in an effort to bring back memories of the team’s glory years in the 1980s and 1990s, which included two Super Bowl victories (XXI and XXV) won by squads led by players like Lawrence Taylor and Phil Simms. Taylor even made an appearance in the team’s introduction video, when he gave current running back Saquon Barkley a vintage jersey. When hosting its two legacy games, New York will completely embrace the retro style by painting the field at MetLife Stadium to resemble the Giants’ end zone artwork from Super Bowl XXI and covering the walls with era-appropriate logos. Many teams are intending to shift to new jerseys as a result of the one-shell regulation change.
