Chicago Bears DSI Odds

Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears finally decided to shake things up after last season hiring a new head coach in Marc Trestman and new coordinators in Aaron Kromer and Mel Tucker. It will be up to the new coaches to find a way to get quarterback Jay Cutler to be consistent and to keep the defense playing at a high level. Let’s look at the 2013 Chicago Bears.

  1. W/L: 10-6
  2. ATS: 7-9
  3. O/U: 9-7
  4. Pts Scored: 23.4 (16th)
  5. Pts Allowed: 17.3 (3rd)

The Chicago Bears won 10 games last season but once again the season ended in disappointing fashion as after a 7-1 start the collapsed down the stretch and missed the playoffs. That collapse cost head coach Lovie Smith his job as he was fired after the season.

2013 Chicago Bears Odds

The Chicago Bears are 42-1 longshots in Super Bowl odds at Diamond sportsbook. The team still has Jay Cutler at quarterback but the philosophy on both sides of the ball is likely to be different with a new regime in Chicago.

Offense

The Chicago Bears are going to throw the ball a lot more than in the past. Marc Trestman is known as an offensive coach so you know he is going to be having quarterback Jay Cutler throwing it all the time. That may not be a bad idea considering running back Matt Forte is an overrated runner and a better receiver anyway. The key will be giving Cutler enough time to find receivers like Brandon Marshall down the field. The addition of Martellus Bennett at tight end should give Cutler another reliable target to throw to.

Defense

The Chicago Bears were excellent a year ago on defense as they finished third in fewest points allowed. They will have to replace linebacker Brian Urlacher but it appears they did that by taking Jon Bostic out of Florida in the second round of the draft.

2013 Chicago Bears Picks

The Chicago Bears took Kyle Long in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft and he should upgrade their offensive line. The key this season will be giving Cutler protection and for Trestman to convince his strong armed quarterback to make smart decisions. I think he can do that and the Chicago Bears may be undervalued a bit in 2013. I don’t think this team is as good as the Green Bay Packers but the Chicago Bears can win 10 games again and make the playoffs in 2013.
