Soccer Betting Odds: There are a total of five games from Euro 2016 and Copa America on Saturday, June 11th including Russia taking on England in a Group B match that can be seen on ESPN. England is the favorite to win Group B while Russia is the second choice so this is a huge opening match for both teams. There are three matches in Euro 2016 for Saturday, each of which can be seen on ESPN and there are two matches in Copa America.
Here is a look at all five games and soccer picks.
Saturday, June 11th (All Times Eastern)
Two teams that should be very familiar with one another meet on Saturday as Switzerland takes on Albania in Group A action. This is a weird situation as there has been so much immigration from Albania to Switzerland that Albania may have as many as six starters who hail from Switzerland. Brothers Granit Xhaka and Taulant Xhaka will face each other as Talant plays for Albania while Granit plays for Switzerland.
3 Way: Switzerland -132, Albania +460, Draw +240
Spread: Switzerland -1/2 -132, Albania +1/2 +112
Total: 2 under -112
Albania is playing in their first-ever major international tournament. They scored just seven goals in qualification. Switzerland scored 24 goals in qualifying but 11 of those came against San Marino. The teams have met six times with Switzerland winning five of the six with the other match ending in a draw.
I will take this game under the total.
Wales is a slight favorite as they take on Slovakia in Group B action in Euro 2016 on Saturday. Slovakia is playing in a European Tournament for the first time since becoming an independent nation in 1993. Slovakia did play in the 2010 World Cup and beat Italy. Slovakia is led by Napoli playmaker Marek Hamsik. Wales will be playing in their first major tournament since 1958. Wales is led by Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale.
3 Way: Wales +170, Slovakia +190, Draw +205
Spread: Wales -117, Slovakia -103
Total: 2 under -120
These teams have met just twice previously with each team winning once. It was Wales winning 5-2 in 2007 while Slovakia won 5-1 a year earlier.
I am surprised that Wales is not more of a favorite but to protect against a possible draw I will just take Wales at -117 on the spread.
The two teams expected to challenge for the top spot in Group B meet in the opener as Russia takes on England. England was perfect in qualifying with 10 wins but there are still questions about the defense for England heading into Euro 2016. The team still has Wayne Rooney and they also have Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy. They also have an excellent goal keeper in Joe Hart. Russia also has concerns on defense and they don’t have as many scorers or the quality in goal of England.
3 Way: England -110, Russia +360, Draw +235
Spread: England -1/2 -110, Russia +1/2 -110
Total: 2 over -120
These teams rarely meet with the last meeting coming in 2007. The teams split their two meetings that season with England winning 2-0 while Russia won 2-1.
I will lay the half goal and take England to win this game.
The United States is favored on Saturday as they take on Paraguay in a game that can be seen on FS1. This game that takes place at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia is probably a must-win for both teams if they expect to make it to the next round.
3 Way: United States +115, Paraguay +240, Draw +225
Spread: United States -1/2 +115, Paraguay +1/2 -135
Total: 2.5 under -150
These teams have met four times previously with each team winning twice. They last met in a 2011 friendly that was won 1-0 by Paraguay.
I have no confidence in either of these teams so I will just take the game under the total.
Colombia is a solid favorite as they take on Costa Rica on Saturday on FS2. This will likely be a must-win game for Costa Rica and it could be a meaningless game for Colombia as they may have already clinched the top spot in Group A before this match begins. This game takes place at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas with a start time of 9 pm Eastern.
3 Way: Colombia -155, Costa Rica +435, Draw +260
Spread: Colombia -1/2 -155, Costa Rica +1/2 +135
Total: 2.5 under -150
These teams have met four times previously and it has been all Colombia as they have won each time. They met in a friendly last year with Colombia winning 1-0.
This is a tough one to call as Colombia may not need to win. I will avoid a side and just take the game over.
