Michigan Wolverines

The Michigan Wolverines slipped into the NCAA Tournament last season as they made the First Four but after beating Tulsa they couldn’t hold onto a lead against Notre Dame and it was over. The Wolverines have enough talent heading into 2016-2017 that they should be a contender in the Big Ten this season and a return trip to the NCAA Tournament should be in the cards.

Michigan returns Zak Irvin who averaged nearly 12 points per game last season and overall the Wolverines return five players who started at some point last season.

Michigan has some good newcomers including Xavier Simpson who should start right away as a freshman. The Wolverines also have Ibi Watson and walk-on Fred Wright-Jones to go along with Brent Hibbitts, Austin Davis and Jon Teske.

2016-2017 Michigan Wolverines Betting

If the Wolverines are to do well this season they need Derrick Walton Jr. to take a big step up. He is a senior and will be handling the ball from the point. He is a good shooter and he will need to distribute the ball to the other scorers on the floor.

Michigan Wolverines Picks

The Wolverines should have a good core of players led by Irvin and Walton in the backcourt. The question is how much the Wolverines get out of Duncan Robinson and Mark Donnal in the front court. If both players come though then Michigan should be a contender to win the Big Ten this season.

Michigan should win at least 20 games this season and once again make the NCAA Tournament.
