North Carolina State Wolfpack

Can a team go to the Final Four a year after missing the NCAA Tournament and after losing their leading scorer?  The NC State Wolfpack finished with a losing record last season and they were just 5-13 in the ACC and NC State goes into this season having to replace their leading scorer, Cat Barber who averaged 23.5 points per game last season.

The Wolfpack are so loaded heading into 2016-2017 that they may not miss Barber much. They have Dennis Smith who is already being projected as a Top 5 pick in next year’s NBA Draft. He will be backed up by Markell Johnson who is a Top 70 recruit. Terry Henderson should be playing alongside Smith in the backcourt. Maverick Rowans is back after scoring 12.9 points per game last season.

The Wolfpack has another possible NBA lottery pick who they have added in Turkish player Omer Yurtseven. He is 7-0, 230 pounds and he is capable of dominating inside. He will be joined in the frontcourt by Abdul-Malik Abu who averaged 12.9 points per game and BeeJay Anya.

2016-2017 North Carolina State Wolfpack Betting

The Wolfpack were not a great team last season against the spread and while they are definitely going to win more games straight up they might be overvalued against the spread. The Wolfpack won’t go under the radar for long once they start beating teams like North Carolina and Virginia this season.

If the Wolfpack get great play from Smith and Yurtseven then it may not matter how overvalued the Wolfpack get as they may just be able to dominate opposing teams.

North Carolina State Wolfpack Picks

The Wolfpack are going to be a lot better than they were last season and anything less than an NCAA Tournament appearance will be a massive disappointment for this team. They have two players who are probably NBA lottery picks in Yurtseven and Smith and they also have a lot of returning talent to support the newcomers.

NC State is definitely a team to watch in 2016-2017 and one that could have a lot of value in terms of NCAA futures.
