Wichita State Shockers

The Wichita State Shockers made the NCAA Tournament again last season under head coach Gregg Marshall and they made some noise with wins over Vanderbilt and Arizona. It will not be easy this season for the Shockers as they have to replace Ron Baker and Fred VanVleet who combined for 26.2 points per game last season.

The Shockers did bring in top recruit C.J. Keyser and they have Austin Reaves who should run the point. Wichita State also added Junior college players Daishon Smith and Darral Willis Jr.

Wichita State will head into the 2016-2017 season with some definite question marks but Marshall has shown he finds the answer more often than not.

2016-2017 Wichita State Shockers Betting

The Shockers may not be as good as they were a year ago against the spread when they went 20-13 ATS. The Shockers have to hope that the newcomers produce and that redshirt freshman guard Landry Shamet takes a step up after averaging 8.7 points per game last season. The frontcourt for Wichita State may have to be a strength with Shaquille Morris at center and Zach Brown at forward.

Wichita State Shockers Picks

The Shockers are almost assuredly not going to win as many games as they did a year ago so they may have to win the conference tournament to get into the NCAA Tournament. The Shockers have a tough schedule with games against LSU, Louisville, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. The Shockers play in the Missouri Valley which is not one of the stronger conferences and Wichita State is still good enough to contend for the conference title but winning the conference tournament might be a necessity to make the NCAA Tournament in 2016-2017.
