Virginia Cavaliers

The Virginia Cavaliers made it all the way to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament last season before losing to Syracuse. Head coach Tony Bennett will have to replace his top scorer in Malcolm Brodgdon and he will also need to find a replacement for Anthony Gill but Bennett has a great recruiting class coming in and the Cavaliers should be very good again in 2016-2017.

The Cavaliers will once again feature an efficient offense led by London Perrantes and a great defense. Perrantes averaged 11 points and 4.4 assists per game last season. The Cavaliers have a big time recruit coming in who could play alongside Perrantes in Kyle Guy. The Cavaliers will probably go with a three-guard lineup on most occasions with the other starter being Devon Hall.

2016-2017 Virginia Cavaliers Betting

The Cavaliers are normally a team that goes under the radar making them a good team to bet on. They were 19-15-1 ATS last season. This could be the case again this season especially with Brogdon gone. Virginia has plenty of talent returning including Austin Nichols who averaged 13.3 points per game last season. The Cavaliers also have Marial Shayok, Darius Thompson, Ty Jerome and DeAndre Hunter. Virginia also has Mamadi Diakite who redshirted last season and they have a big recruit in Jay Huff who is a great shot blocker.

Virginia Cavaliers Picks

The Cavaliers are going to be very good again on defense this season and they have enough offense to win close games. It might be difficult to repeat last year’s success and the Cavaliers are not going to challenge Duke for the ACC title but Virginia should still finish with a winning record and make the NCAA Tournament.
