Oklahoma Sooners

The Oklahoma Sooners made a great run last season in the NCAA Tournament but it all ended with a blowout loss to Villanova in the Final Four. It won’t be easy to get back to the big dance for the Sooners as they have to replace Buddy Hield and Isaiah Cousins but head coach Lon Kruger has done a nice job recruiting and the Sooners will still be a force in the Big 12.

The Sooners will be counting heavily on freshman Kameron McGusty who is one of the top recruits in the country. He actually went to the same high school that Hield went to, Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kansas.  The Sooners also brought in Kristian Doolittle who was the top recruit in the state of Oklahoma. Other newcomers include Junior college point guard Darrion Strong, redshirt freshman Matt Freeman and freshman Jordan Shepherd.

2016-2017 Oklahoma Sooners Betting

The Sooners do return Senior guard Jordan Woodard who averaged 13 points per game last season.  They also have Junior forward Khadeem Lattin who is a defensive force. The Sooners also have returning players Christian James, Dante Buford, Rashard Odomes and Jamuni McNeace.

Oklahoma had a very high profile last season and they were overvalued going 14-21 ATS. The Sooners could be a lot better bet this season as they don’t have a superstar player like Hield getting a lot of attention.

Oklahoma Sooners Picks

The Sooners have a tough early season schedule that should pay dividends later in the season as they have games against Wisconsin, Wichita State, Memphis, Auburn and Florida.

The Sooners have some good returning talent but how far they get will probably be determined by just how good Kameron McGusty and Kristian Doolittle are. It could be that the two are good enough for the Sooners to make another NCAA Tourney appearance in 2016-2017.
