Harvard Crimson

The Harvard Crimson had a very poor season a year ago as they went just 14-16 overall and 6-8 in the Ivy League. It was a definite shock as the Crimson had won the previous five Ivy League titles. Harvard looks poised to get right back to the top of the league this season as they have a number of returning starters and a great recruiting class.

Harvard does have to replace Evan Cummins and Agunwa Okolie in the starting lineup and Patrick Steeves off the bench but the newcomers look to be more than up to the task. Harvard has three incoming freshmen who are listed in the Top 150 recruits in the country. It will be a battle for playing time among Seth Towns, Chris Lewis and Robert Baker.

Harvard also has a big time recruit in the backcourt in Bryce Aiken and the Crimson added Justin Bassey and Christian Juzang.

2016-2017 Harvard Crimson Betting

Harvard is going to be a lot better in 2016-2017 than they were a year ago. They return three starters and they also get back Siyani Chambers, who missed all of last season. His return is huge and he should provide immediate leadership at the point.

The Crimson return center Zena Edosomwan who averaged 13.1 points and 9.9 rebounds last season. They also bring back Corbin Miller along with Tommy McCarthy and Corey Johnson. Crimson should be a team to watch all season as they have a boatload of talented players. The only concern for head coach Tommy Amaker is finding playing time for all of his talent.

Harvard Crimson Picks

Harvard doesn’t have as many seniors as some other Ivy League teams but there is no doubt they have more depth than everyone else. If the young talent comes together quickly then Harvard should be a serious contender for the Ivy League title in 2016-2017.

Anything less than competing for an Ivy League title would be a big disappointment for this team this season and an NCAA Tournament berth is a distinct possibility.
