Soccer Betting: The second half of the 2014-15 campaign gets underway this weekend with the transfer window still wide open throughout Europe.Juventus has accumulated a five-point lead atop the table, with Roma struggling to keep pace with the defending three-year champs of the Scudetto.

There are three matches on the schedule to get round 20 started onSaturday, January 24. The most notable being the match in Stadio Olimpico with Lazio hosting AC Milan. Both clubs come into the weekend trying to atone for ugly losses their last time out, and look to gain some momentum to start the back half of the campaign on a good note.

Our featured match of the round comes at Stadio Artemio Franchi, with Fiorentina hosting AS Roma. Both clubs come off mid-week Coppa Italia wins, and appear in the top 6 of the Serie A table heading to the weekend.

Napoli and Sampdoria both have matches at home and are looking to keep position in the top 4 of the table. We have a pressing match at the bottom of the table with Parma and Cesena, both locked at 9 points and trying to get out of the relegation zone.

Let's get ourselves prepared for the weekend, and see what action we can find. Oh, and don't forget to check out the new weekly soccer podcast on our sister site, Get More Sports, that will air everyWednesday.

    Saturday, January 24- 3 Matches

    Sassuolo vs Cagliari

    3-Way: 1: Sassuolo +230 Away ; X: +240 Draw ; 2: Cagliari +125 Home

Spread: Sassuolo Pk +140 ; Cagliari Pk -165

    Total 2.5: Over -105 ; Under -115

    Analysis and Prediction:

There is not one thing we can find to deter us from playing this Over 2.5 at -105. It was covered a bit on the weekly podcast, and it will be covered here. Let's go back to late November. That was the last time a Sassuolo match was played where someone didn't score a goal, which makes it 7 straight where both teams scored in their matches.

Now let's discuss Cagliari. Actually let's not do that, because they couldn't stop half of the Serie D clubs from finding the net at least once. I would almost guarantee that Seregno, who plays in Serie D Group B would be able to hang with Cagliari. Yeah, it's that bad!

Gladly suggesting the Over 2.5 at a more than reasonable -105 here.

    Torino vs Inter Milan

    3-Way: 1: Torino +405 Away ; X: +260 Draw ; 2: Inter -130 Home

    Spread: Torino +0.5 +110 ; Inter -0.5 -130

    Total 2.5: Over +120 ; Under -140

    Analysis and Prediction:

Well, we also discussed the Inter situation on the podcaston Wednesday, and what is Inter headman Roberto Mancini thinking? Icardi is in the dog house for sure, and what was the point of bringing over Lukas Podolski if you are going to pull him in a 0 - 0 match with Empoli? Sitting through that match was like chewing on nails, but hey, you can't learn about the clubs if you aren't taking the time to watch the matches.

Watching Inter dealing with an Empoli club that couldn't score in a nickel candy store with a pocket full of dimes is certainly not going to discourage us from expecting some scoring here. Torino seems to be getting out of the early season funk, and is working well enough to find the net right now. Let's use the handicap here to play the Over 2 and 2.5 at -110, instead of hoping to need a 2 - 1 scoreline. At least in that case, if it is 1 - 1 we won't lose the entire bet, and if we do see that 2 - 1 FT score, then we made out anyway with only 10 bucks of juice.

    AC Milan vs Lazio

    3-Way: 1: Milan +310 Away ; X: +235 Draw ; 2: Lazio +100 Home

    Spread: Milan +0.5 -120 ; Lazio -0.5 +100

    Total 2.5: Over +120 ; Under -140

Bet on the Serie A at BetDSI

    Analysis and Prediction:

As we mentioned in the opening, these two clubs looked like they were playing an entirely different sport last weekend. They both had winnable matches, and neither could even come close to finding the net, and each lost 1 - 0. The Milan loss was surely more devastating of the two, as losing to Atalanta at the San Siro was also one of those matches that was hard to watch. Viewing that second half was like sitting in a dentist’s chair waiting for the drill to start.

We can understand the Lazio loss to Napoli a bit, since Napoli sits in the top 4 and can usually play well enough to hang with about anyone, so we can forgive Lazio for that performance.

So where do we find any value on a play here? The line setters clearly think that Milan could never recover from that loss and go to Lazio and get a result, with the +310 slapped against them away from home. However, they are also telling us that we need to pay $20 in juice to take the Milan +0.5 handicap, so this is a coin flip if there ever was one. Lazio to win at home at even money, or Milan, to actually recover and play like the club they are expected to be right now after some nice moves in the transfer window.

Ok, we are going to bite the bullet here, and roll with Milan to find a way to recover from an absolute disgusting loss to Atalanta, and take that +0.5 with the marginal juice, but let's say it will not much of an investment.

    Sunday, January 25- 5 Matches

Featured Match AS Roma vs Fiorentina

    3-Way 1x2 Lines:

    Roma +200

    Fiorentina +150

    Draw +230

    Roma Pk +110

    Fiorentina Pk -130

    Total 2.5:

    Over +110

    Under -130

    Analysis and Prediction:

Well, this is another match we discussed in detail on the podcast at Get More Sports, and the Roma struggles in the first half are starting to become quite a concern. Not even a shot in the first half in the Rome Derby with Lazio and again last weekend with Palermo. The last we heard, if you don't put a ball on net, it has no chance of ending up in the back of it.

Not to mention that Roma sat Totti, Maicon, Cole, De Rossi and Nianggolin for the Palermo match, and yet put them all out there for the Coppa match with Empolion Tuesday. We have sent an email to Coach Rudi Garcia asking him what the hell his plan is to stay near the top of the table if you are taking the Coppa more serious than the domestic campaign!

The fact that Roma should put an A squad for this match goes without saying and, if they let Juventus get any further away from them, then the second half of the campaign will be Garcia's last as a head coach in Rome.

We are taking the Roma +110 Pk, with the Draw no Bet scenario in place, simply because we are giving the capital club some respect, even if they still need to earn it in some people's eyes.

    Cesena vs Parma

    3-Way: 1: Cesena +540 Away ; X: 280 Draw ; 2: Parma -165 Home

    Spread: Cesena +1 -135 ; Parma -1 +115

    Total 2.5: Over +115 ; Under -135

Bet on the Serie A at BetDSI

    Analysis and Prediction:

If you need to score goals, look up these two and get back to us later and tell us how it went. These two have allowed 80 goals this year between them, and that is simply why they are more than likely both headed to Serie B next season. Even if one of them walks out of here with 3 points, they are still not even close to out of the woods.

We are going to suggest this total all day andtomorrow, and any other day of the week that these two would be on the same pitch at the same time. We would love to hear Andres Cantor announce this match, because he would be unable to even talk when it is over. GOOOOL!

Safe to say we are easily going to suggest the Over 2.5 at +115.

    Atalanta vs Hellas Verona

    3-Way: 1: Atalanta +205 Away ; X: +210 Draw ; 2: Verona +155 Home

Spread: Atalanta Pk +110 ; Verona Pk -130

    Total 2.5: Over +125 ; Under -145

    Analysis and Prediction:

So we mentioned what Atalanta did last weekend, and now they face a Verona club who couldn't beat a drum loud enough to be heard a foot away.

Remember Day 1 of the campaign, when these two did nothing for 90 minutes and then some? Ok, why would you, since there was nothing to take from it except a sign of what was to come this year. Verona just gave up 10 goals to Juventus the last two times they have taken the pitch, and we get that Juventus is Juventus, but come on!

That +110 sitting there on Atalanta, even away from home, is find by us to seek some value on a club that at least is showing signs of life.

    Palermo vs Sampdoria

    3-Way: 1: Palermo +305 Away ; X: +240 Draw ; 2: Sampdoria +100 Home

    Spread: Palermo +0.5 -120 ; Sampdoria -0.5 +100

    Total 2.5: Over +115 ; Under -135

    Analysis and Prediction:

Sampdoria got knocked out of the Coppa Italiaon Wednesdaywith a 2 - 0 loss to Inter, so they can now concentrate on the domestic campaign. Remember when we went to the holiday break, we were talking about a Samp club that had only 1 loss on the campaign. We still can't believe they let Manolo Giabbadini leave, and yet stay in Serie A and go to a club above them in the table to Napoli.

Luckily they have enough decent weapons to find the net, and Palermo has not stopped anyone at all themselves lately. This is another head scratching line on the total, seeing +115 on the Over 2.5 to hope we see a 2 - 1 scoreline come 90 minutes later. Drop the gavel sir, and say it with me. SOLD!

    Chievo Verona vs Juventus

    3-Way: 1: Chievo +1850 Away ; X: +650 Draw ; 2: Juventus -600 Home

    Spread: Chievo +2 -105 ; Juventus -2 -115

    Total 3: Over +100 ; Under -120

Bet on the Serie A at BetDSI

    Analysis and Prediction:

The last thing the league needed to see was Juventus put up 10 goals vs Verona the last two times out, which includes the Coppa Italia. Now Chievo has to figure out a way to slow this club down, and yet penetrate the net against GiGi Buffon.

We do not see that, even as a remote possibility, and Juventus can use Chievo as a nice little practice session to prepare for a more serious match up the road. There is no overlooking the opposition here, it is simply going to come down to how bad Juventus wants to kill this club.

There is the -2 and it is -115, and there is where we are not even going to overthink the how and why this is the only place to look, although that Over 3 at even money doesn't look too intimidating either to be honest. So let's slap a bit of change on both the -2 handicap with Juve, and the Over 3.

    Monday, January 26- 2 Matches

    Udinese vs Empoli

    3-Way: 1: Udinese +305 Away ; X: +225 Draw ; 2: Empoli +105 Home

    Spread: Udinese +0.5 -125 ; Empoli -0.5 +105

    Total 2.5: Over +125 ; Under -145

    Analysis and Prediction:

When was the last time Empoli scored at home? It was against Lazio in the 55th minute of the match onNovember 9th. If your calendar happens to be broken, we are approaching February, so that makes it seem like forever. That is actually amazing with the formidable front line this club has. Granted they are all getting older by the minute, but Tavano and Maccarone still have plenty to offer.

If you caught the Empoli / Inter match on BeIn Sports last weekend, you saw what a clinic Empoli put on passing the ball in the first half. We think Ray Hudson might have wet his pants a time or two, but that still needs to be confirmed, because he was ooohing and aaahing left and right every time they completed a pass. It was impressive for sure, but the name of the game is to find the net, as important as methodical passing is.

Now the line setters are making us decide if they will score this time out, because they cannot win if they do not put more balls on the net, and we have more than covered that Udinese away from home is hysterical.

We are suggesting the draw here, because +225 is too tempting and who knows what you are getting from either one of these clubs.

    Genoa vs Napoli

    3-Way: 1: Genoa +800 Away ; X: +365 Draw ; 2: Napoli -250 Home

    Spread: Genoa +1.5 -135; Napoli -1.5 +115

    Total 2.5: Over -135 ; Under +115

Bet on the Serie A at BetDSI

    Analysis and Prediction:

Genoa got bailed out last weekend to salvage a point after a decision to give them a PK in extra time, which we certainly saw as a dive in the box. We have mentioned a good bit about Matteo Perin being one of the class net minders in the league, but his defense is certainly not giving him much of a chance. He came so close to stopping the Berardi Penalty kick, and guessed perfectly, getting a piece of the ball, but not enough to stop it from going in, and neither of the other two goals were remotely his fault. That match could have 6 - 3 if he didn't stand on his head for 90 minutes.

Napoli should feel like it is Christmas all over again with the play of the Genoa back line. As good as Perin is, if you don't know how to play together, then you could put a brick wall back there and it wouldn't matter.

We will gladly move this Over 2.5 to the Over 2.5 and 3 to get about even money on the action.
