MLS Odds: First place ... wait, let’s soak that in.The first place New York City FC comes into the weekend tied with the other expansion franchise, Orlando City, and sitting atop the Eastern Conference together. Early as it is, it has certainly given the two new teams confidence that they are not in over their heads and can handle the adjustment to top flight soccer.

New York City opened at Yankee Stadium last weekend, and what a home opener it was. With an attendance of over 43,500 fans in the historic New York attraction, City rode the David Villa train to a 2 - 0 home win, earning him the MLS Player of the Week honor.

In the 19th-minute of the game, the environment was reminiscent of the 2009 New York Yankees’ season when they won the championship in the first year of the new Yankees’ stadium. David Villa forever etched his name in the history books, scoring the first goal in just under 20 minutes, and the building was brought down, figuratively speaking, of course! The roar could be heard from the Major Deegan Expressway, and we think it might have registered on the Richter scale, but that has yet to be confirmed.

Seriously though, it carried the team to an eventual 2 - 0 win, and the only thing we heard from the players in the locker room after the game was about the spirit of the fans. New Yorkers tend to be loud, let's just leave it at that, and use your imagination to grasp the concept.

Colorado is another of the teams who have only played one game on the year, after having the second weekend of the season off. They opened the year playing an extremely uneventful 0 - 0 game with Philadelphia at PPL Park, but did find a road point to that end. The Union controlled a good bit of that match, and Colorado did not officially put a shot on goal, with only one real attempt of a threat to find the net.

That makes it difficult to know what their mindset was these last two weeks, knowing an upstart franchise will most likely see Denver as a tough place to play, much less get a result. The altitude is a given, and we all know what being at a mile-high does to your cardio for 90 minutes. The players all know that the elevation is the third team on the field, if you will.

Quick Analysis & Prediction Quick Analysis:

Naturally, the line setters are coming out and saying that what New York City has accomplished at this point, comes to an end this weekend, given the East Siders a +230 line to find all three points.

Colorado did not put a single shot on goal in their opening match, so how can we not account for that, because if you watched that match, Colorado didn't even string together 6 or 7 passes at best before giving up possession time after time. If you can't control a drive with some sort of plan of attack, it will show.It showed, and they know, as well as we all do, that they will need to put forth a much better effort than 0 shots on goal if they hope to interest their home fans to come and support them, as they usually do pretty well here.

Is having two weeks off going to change the outcome for Colorado, and can New York continue to overachieve out of the gate? Those questions will be answeredon Saturday, so where can we look for some action here?

To be honest, look not just at the results, but at the roster and how New York is still flying around in awe of the support they are getting. That makes it tough to think that Colorado can go out and beat this team.

Colorado has to impress us before we start recommending them to anyone, so that Pk on NYCFC at +135 sure looks inviting. Let’s just see how long NYC can ride their open to the year, and if Colorado does more of the same they did last time out.
