MLS Soccer: Los Angeles vs DC United
Friday, March 27th, 2015By Ej Garr
MLS Odds: DC United hosts a light LA Galaxy squad, as the two best defensive clubs in MLS in 2014 meet at RFK Stadium Saturday on March 28.
The LA Galaxy will be without three starters this week due to international duty, which includes both starting forwards, Robbie Keane and Gyasi Zardes. Edson Buddle and Alan Gordon certainly have the experience to fill their roles, and Coach Bruce Arena sees their size and ability as an advantage. The two 33-year-old, 6' 1” forwards look to be the answer for the departures of Keane and Zardes. Jose Villarreal is hopeful that he will get his opportunity to work with the veterans, as the 21-year-old has shown great poise and composure being as young as he is.
Goalkeeper Jaime Penedo will also be playing with Panama this weekend, and will be the third starter out of the lineup.
While Los Angeles will be dealing with healthy absences, DC United is still dealing with injury issues that have a handful of players still out of the lineup.
Between the midfield and front line, Markus Halsti is out with a knee injury, Luis Silva has a hammy issue, Eddie Johnson is still dealing with his heart condition, Michael Seaton had knee surgery in January, but is getting closer to returning, and Michael Farfan has a groin injury.
DC United head coach Ben Olsen was not shy in stating that he was happy they are catching LA without three of the starters, saying that it was certainly a good time to play them.
DC United looked defensively out of sync last weekend, allowing two goals to the Red Bulls in a fashion we are not accustomed to seeing from one of the best defensive clubs there are in the league. They had two weeks to prepare for the match, and were trying to become the only other team besides Dallas to not lose or draw this year.
This is a meeting of two of the most historic franchises in all of MLS, and it pits two teams against each other who have enjoyed more success than any other teams in this league.

Quick Analysis & Prediction Quick Analysis:
Naturally, the exclusion of the some of the main players in the Los Angeles lineup being out will surely have an affect on the outcome of the match.
As much experience as Buddle and Gordon may have, they do not have all that much experience working together.
The Galaxy back line will most likely try to limit shots against their back up keeper, and we know these two defenses are still among the best in MLS.
If the United is happy that Keane, Zardes and Penedo are out for LA, than they better damn well come out firing on all cylinders. We don't expect a ton of shots to come out of either side here, and the chances will most likely be few and far between.
The line setters obviously know about the absences for both clubs, and they are revealing that they do not expect much goal scoring to take place, which has been a theme throughout MLS since the season started.
We will see if DC does indeed come out as the better team, and being at home will certainly help their cause, so the Pk Draw no Bet handicap line of +120 on United makes plenty of sense in this spot.
If no one scores, then there is no harm done, and we will live to see another day with our money back.
