MLS Soccer: Kansas City vs New York City FC

MLS Odds:Kansas City is still looking for their first win of the young season, while New York City FC remains at the top of the Eastern Conference standings.
Sporting KC has not enjoyed being relocated back to the Western Conference, with two draws and a loss to show for their first three outings of the year. The team comes off a scoreless draw at home with Portland, and has two draws to show for both home efforts out of the gate. They have only scored two goals thus far, and only managed two shots on goal last weekend against the Timbers, making it difficult on themselves in attempts to find their first win of the year.
When you account for actual shots on goal, however, Kansas City leads all of MLS with 45 shots, even if they have not managed to find the net but twice, and only have officially put 10 shots on net through three games.
Sporting leads all of MLS the last three season in road wins with 24, spanning 2012- 14.
New York City FC also comes off a scoreless draw last weekend, in the thin dry air of Denver, as they only managed two shots on goal as well, so the question will be how these two manage to have any success against each other.
New York City FC is still holding on to their first place distinction through three weeks of the season, which is where they were before they headed out west to take on the Rapids. With most teams having difficulties scoring in MLS this year, five points is enough to lead the way in the Eastern Conference.
Both teams have done a decent enough job defensively, with New York City only giving up one goal on opening day against Orlando City. It took a fluky, deflected shot from Kaka that came off a set piece 10 yards outside their own box and, other than that, they have been sound.

Quick Analysis & Prediction
Sporting Kansas City has historically done well against expansion franchises, winning 6 times while drawing twice, and has only lost once, which came against Montreal in 2012.
Saturday'sgame will mark the 300th game in the regular season history for Kansas City, and the team sits on 99 away wins in all competitions.
Set pieces have not helped the New York club thus far, as they still are listed as not having created a single scoring chance from free kicks. These are the type of early season issues that, it seems, plenty of clubs are dealing with out of the gate.
Even though both of these teams have struggled finding the net, we can see that it might be time for some of that to turn around. Granted, the lack of shots on goal are not there, but the actual attempts certainly are. Deciphering how and when these chances will start to find the net will surely make it easier to make a prediction on this total and, despite the weekend of misery that was week 3 in the MLS as a whole with scoring, this match should give us the opportunities to scratch that +115, on the hopes of a 2 - 1 type of result here.
We will, indeed, hope the scoring woes start to ease and we find an early first half goal that opens this match up a bit, and will suggest a play on this total to go Over the 2.5 goals scored. Hopefully we timed it right!
