MLS Soccer: Kansas City vs Dallas
Friday, March 13th, 2015By Ej Garr
MLS Odds: Kansas City and Dallas helped to bring the MLS into the league in 1996, and they have gotten to know each other quite well over the last 20 years. For the first nine years in the league, the two clubs were Western Conference opponents, until Kansas City was moved to the Eastern Conference in 2005 for realignment reasons. Kansas City now finds themselves back in the West for the first season since the move 10 years ago, as a result of the addition of two new teams added to the Eastern Conference (NYC and Orlando).
Kansas City took on the NY Red Bulls in their home opener last weekend, and came away with a 1 - 1 result. Kansas City's Ike Opara scored first for Sporting in the game, with New York answering back just four minutes later to even the game at 1.
They had to play the last 20 minutes of the game a man down, after defender Matt Besler picked up his second yellow and was sent off the field. They will obviously be without his services in this game.
Dallas comes off a nice home win to open the season, and get to remain home for this match, before headed to Philadelphia for theFridayNight Game of the Week on UnivisionMarch 20.
Dallas met San Jose to open the 2015 season last weekend, and played to a 0 - 0 match until the 92nd minute in extra time, when Dallas' striker Blas Perez found the net to give the team all three points in a 1 - 0 win.
Blas led the team with 11 goals in 2014, and is picking up where he left off, taking a pass from Moises Hernandez and converting the late opportunity.
The two teams have only met twice in the last 2 seasons, splitting draws in each other’s stadium, but will meet three times this year, as the two reunite in the Western Conference.

Quick Analysis & Prediction Quick Analysis:
As we have said throughout, we only have one game of experience to go by to this point, with opening MLS weekend just making its way around last weekend.
Dallas did a great job of keeping San Jose off the board last weekend at home although, keep in mind that San Jose was only more incompetent than Chivas at scoring goals last year, only finding the net 35 times in 34 games.
With Besler out of the line-up Kansas City will obviously be light a defender. We were still impressed that the team played the last 20 minutes of a 1 - 1 match a man down, keeping it a draw to salvage a point under those circumstances.
We will suggest the play on Dallas at home and the 3-Way line of +120, to expect them to open the year 2 – 0 and take advantage of home cookin'.Even though Kansas City was a playoff team last year, it looks like they may have to climb out of an early 0 - 2 hole.
Dallas should be able to keep Kansas City as frustrated as they kept San Jose, and we might not see too many shots finding the net in this one. The Under does have some validity, but we expect Dallas to come out on top. We will get to talk about this match up two more times this year, and we will revisit this rivalryon May 29in Kansas City.
