    Kansas-City-vs-Colorado odds

MLS Odds: Sporting Kansas City takes on the last place Colorado Rapids in a mid-week encounter, that will leave all of MLS down to the final Sundayof the regular season. Sporting suddenly finds themselves clinging to a playoff berth in the Western Conference, having fallen back to the sixth position after their 1 - 0 loss to San Jose this past weekend.

Tied with Seattle with 48 points and only one point up on the Earthquakes, the one advantage Kansas City has is playing two matches to everyone else's one. Amazingly, as whacky as this season has been now that there are six positions making the post-season in the new format, Kansas City could still secure the second seed that holds home field advantage in the Conference semifinals.

With a win, Sporting clinches a playoff berth, and will find themselves with 51 points tied for the two slot with the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Not ironically, the Galaxy and Sporting KC will meet on the final Sunday of the regular season at Sporting Park on October 25.

Before Sporting's second of the three games against Colorado this season on August 29, Kansas City had gone 11 straight outings from all competitions without losing to Colorado, but the Rapids snapped the string with a 2 - 1 win that saw all three goals scored in the second half. Sporting's Dom Dwyer scored just minutes in to the second half, but the Rapids answered with back-to-back goals from Maynor Figueroa and Kevin Doyle, the latter settling the tilt in the 76th minute with an assist by Vicente Sanchez.

That win for the Rapids gave them their second three-game win streak of the season, but it has still been a season to forget as a whole.

The Rapids have lost five of their last six games with one draw in the mix, and have only scored 30 goals this year in league play, easily the worst in all of MLS.

The Rapids last objective is to obviously try to get in the way of Sporting Kansas City, as they too could face the possibility of not making the playoffs should the Rapids win.

If Colorado beats Sporting, and Sporting loses to the Galaxy on the final day of the season, San Jose could swoop in and take the sixth position should they get past Dallas in Texas. Dallas has already clinched home field throughout the Western Conference playoffs, and are not likely to catch the Red Bulls for a Supporters Shield as the New York club takes on the league's worst club in Chicago on the final Sunday of the regular season.

    Quick Analysis & Prediction

    Quick Analysis:

A problem that Kansas City faces is their injury report entering the mid-week game. Sinovic, Besler, Ellis and Mustivar are all potentially out for this game, leaving manager Peter Vermes short-handed on the back line should they not be a go on Wednesday. It is hard to not recognize the reality for Sporting KC, having the ability to either be out of the playoffs all together, or having the possibility to reach the second seed of the Western Conference that holds home field advantage in the semis.

We will suggest two things to happen here despite how well Sporting has played at home.

There is no pressure on the Rapids whatsoever, and there is a thick aura of necessity for Sporting with a huge expectation at home to perform and prevail.

Colorado +1 is the first play at +100, and the Over 2.5 at -115 is the second recommendation we offer from this mid-week affair that will bring all of us to the final Sunday of the regular season.
