MLS Soccer Betting: Seattle vs Los Angeles
Friday, April 10th, 2015By Ej Garr
MLS Odds:Seattle and Los Angeles revisit their rivalry in their first of three meetings in 2015, when they face off at StubHub Center in Los Angeles.
It is hard to forget how the 2014 regular season came to a close, when these two met in the final two weekends of the year in two epic battles that saw the Sounders clinch the home field throughout the playoffs. It did not end there as the two met in the Conference finals, with LA taking a 2 - 2 aggregate and scoring the only away goal in the series, en route to their fifth MLS title.
Seattle marked this date on their calendar in the pre-season, and are highly motivated to make a statement against the champs. They should have so much pent up aggression knowing they let home field slip away while having the best record in the league last year.
We saw Seattle escape with a 1 - 0 result last weekend against Houston, and we hope you enjoyed that Under suggestion that was given in our preview for that match last week.
Los Angeles has their own issues to deal with at the moment and this might not be the best time to face Seattle. The Galaxy has not won since opening day, and has two losses and two draws to show for their last four outings.
Vancouver held the Galaxy to only one shot on goal in their 2 - 0 loss last weekend, and we have to give the Whitecaps credit for frustrating the champs for 90 minutes. Maybe the loss of Landon Donovan was bigger than the team expected, as Keane and Zardes simply don't have the midfield support they once had.
Obviously, the word 'emotions' will be used throughout most media outlet previews for this match, and maybe we should play the 'Over' on how many times we hear the word used during the match on Fox Sports 1Sundaynight, because this will certainly not be a game for the faint of heart.
Last 10 MLS Meetings:
The Galaxy has a slight edge in the recent series, with 4 wins, 3 losses and 3 draws in the last 10 meetings, five of which came last year in both the regular season and playoffs.
1x2 3-Way Lines:
Los Angeles -125

Quick Analysis & Prediction
Seattle certainly has much more talent on their current roster than LA does, and we do not trust Keane and Zardes simply because their midfield has been terrible in 2015. Motivation is obviously there to atone for last season's playoff disappointment, but at the same token, revenge can also have its drawbacks.
We know emotions are going to be through the roof in this one and the card count might reach upwards of 7 or 8 yellow cards, with fouls galore.
Whoever can control their emotions will be the one who comes out of this match on top, and we know Clint Dempsey and Robbie Keane are two of the most emotional players in this league. The more you frustrate them, the more likely they are to do something stupid and unbecoming of players who are such role models as they are to kids and fans alike.
We are gladly going to suggest this Over 2.5 and the -105 we see on the action, expecting both clubs to come out firing on all cylinders for 90 minutes. Free kicks and set pieces will be found all through this match, and those should create enough opportunities to help us secure a ticket on this total to go Over the 2.5.
