MLS Soccer Betting: Seattle vs Colorado
Wednesday, May 27th, 2015By Ej Garr
MLS Odds: The Seattle Sounders look to overtake first place in the Western Conference standings, as they host the Colorado Rapids at Century Link Fieldthis Wednesday.
The Rapids come into the game looking like a much different squad than we saw in the first meeting between the teams in mid-April. The Rapids have an entirely new front two in the lineup, featuring Luis Solignac and Kevin Doyle, who made their first starts of the season last weekend and are likely to be paired up again in this match. Drew Moore, who was only making his second start of the season on the back line, was just starting his season after a ruptured ACL kept him out of action over the first month of the year.
Last weekend, the Rapids finally broke their 4-straight draw streak. They had a big 1 - 0 win at home against the Vancouver Whitecaps, who were chasing a first place lead in the Western Conference standings coming into the game.
Lucas Pittinariscored his first MLS goal of his career in the 51st minute, taking a beautiful one-time volley off a creative flick-feed from Gabriel Torres to find the game’s only goal. The win snapped a Rapids 11-game home winless streak that dated back to the 2014 season against Chivas USA, onJuly 25.
Seattle is the next team that Colorado has to face while they chase their dreams of first place, as the Sounders enter the weekend a mere point behind FC Dallas for the Western Conference lead.
The Sounders have simply owned the Rapids in the history of the two teams, with 14 Wins, 2 Losses and 2 Draws in 18 all-time MLS meetings. Seattle has won the last five games as well, includinga three-game series sweep last year with wins in the last meeting of 2013 and in the first meeting of 2015 back in April.
Chad Marshall is back in training, and could make it back on the field in some capacity this weekend, be it a start or an appearance off the bench. Obafemi Martins got back to light training this week, and his status is listed as a game time decision.

Quick Analysis & Prediction
This is an extremely even match if Martins is unable to be 100 percent up front for the Sounders, although if he goes, he will likely have an input in the result as he usually tends to do. His absence was apparent in last weekend's 0 - 0 game with Kansas City, to start the three-game home stand with only a point from the draw.
There is certainly an argument to make on the +1 with Colorado away from home, needing similar results to the big win against an upper tier West team like Vancouver just a week ago.
There is no better test to your season then when you face two teams who are chasing first place, while you sit in the basement as Colorado does entering the weekend. The 1 - 0 result with Vancouver has got to breathe some life into this Rapids team that had to stop settling for one point all too often in 2015.
We are offering this +1 on Colorado, not expecting them to lose by two goals as we have seen once before in the series when Seattle took a 3 - 1 win in Colorado. This is a different Colorado team than it was in the first meeting, and it should be a tight one throughout the night.
