MLS Soccer Betting: Real Salt Lake vs San Jose
Friday, April 3rd, 2015By Ej Garr
MLS Odds:Once again, San Jose hopes their new stadium comes in handy, after pleasing their fans the first time they played here with a 2 - 1 win over Chicago. Salt Lake comes in for their first of two appearances they will make in San Jose, as these two will meet again here at Avaya Stadium in September, and will also meet in Salt LakeMay 1.
Salt Lake comes in as one of only three remaining teams to not have suffered a defeat on the young season, although they have only three outings after a week 3 bye. They picked up their first win of the year last weekend at home against Toronto, after it looked like Toronto had secured a point when Goncalves scored in the 89th minute for Toronto to tie the game at one with just a minute left in regulation.
Salt Lake coach Jeff Cassar looked like the smartest man in the building when he brought on youngster Jordan Allen with 15 minutes remaining in the match. Allen ended up scoring his first ever MLS goal in the waning seconds of the 90th minute, sending the Rio Tinto crowd into an absolute frenzy and helping the club to secure their first three points of the year.
San Jose helped New England get back on track last weekend, when they barely managed to put up half the stats that New England managed.
San Jose was outshot 20 - 10, and officially only had four shots on goal to New England's eight. Had it not been for a stupid decision in the box that led to a Wondolowski penalty kick, San Jose would have never made it on the scoreboard. They presented no real threats of the four shots they officially put on net, and now have to hope that the home crowd can once again provide a spark once again.

Quick Analysis & Prediction
Besides both opening day results for each of these clubs, they have been two of the rare teams in this year’s version of MLS to be scoring. After opening day, each game has hit every Over that has been offered, and we expect nothing to change in this one either. We expect to see a good bit of pressure on both net minders, even though San Jose looked lethargic last weekend in New England. The home crowd will certainly be a factor for the Earthquakes, and it served them well the first and only time they were here in week 3 of the season.
The prediction, as you can figure out by the quick analysis portion of our preview, will come in the form of the Over 2.5, with even money on the action at +100.We have already seen that Salt Lake is suspect on defense, with their 3 - 3 result against a Philly team that simply is not very good.
We see this Over 1 in the first half as another reasonable offer, which also sits at about even money for the action, as this should be 1 - 1 at worst going to the halftime locker rooms. That will hopefully prepare us for a wild second half, that should see a wide open affair, so each play on the first half and full time total to go Over will make our board here at Avaya Stadium.
