MLS Soccer Betting: Real Salt Lake vs Kansas City
Saturday, June 20th, 2015By Ej Garr
MLS Odds: Real Salt Lake and Sporting Kansas City meet at Rio Tinto Stadiumon Sunday, wrapping up the weekend of MLS action. Both teams had successful U.S Open Cup games this past week, with Salt Lake getting past the Sounders II team with a 2 - 1 victory at home, and Kansas City getting by the St Louis FC 2 - 0, also at home.
Each team will again play host in their round of 16 games in the Cup onJuly 1, as Kansas City will be taking on FC Dallas at Sporting Park, and Salt Lake will host the Portland Timbers at Rio Tinto Stadium. Kansas City is arguably playing the best soccer in all of MLS, having only one loss in their last 12 MLS outings, dating back toMarch 21.Sporting KC is also the only team left in the Western Conference to have not lost a game at home this year, earning 18 of their 24 points at Sporting Park.
However, the road has not been so friendly, with only one win away from home this season. Including the U.S Cup outing, Sporting KC has held their last four opponents without a goal, turning their attention to the defensive side of the ball. Goalkeeper Tim Melia has assumed the starters role, after three long years in the Chivas USA locker room and seeing limited opportunities, and has relished in his time with his new club so far.
Real Salt Lake has been held to a clean sheet seven times through their 15 games this season, which is the most in MLS, already matching the team's total from all of their 2014 campaign. In the first meeting between the teams in April, RSL did not put a single shot on frame, for only the fourth time in their MLS history.
RSL will only have two days to travel and prepare for a trip to Red Bull Arena onJune 24to face New York, upon returning home to face Columbus onJune 27, before their U.S Open Cup match, as mentioned onJuly 1.
Salt Lake only have one win in their last five MLS outings, and are coming off another scoreless draw with Colorado last time out in league play. Only managing a single shot on goal, RSL continues to struggle with their offense, although they were without a few regulars due to international duty and injury.
Chris Schuler, Jamison Olave, and Justin Glad will again be out of action, leaving the RSL back line depleted, as all three defenders are still recovering from injuries.
Last 10 MLS Meetings:
The recent series is tied, with each team having 3 Wins, while playing to 4 Draws in the last 10 MLS meetings.
The two played to a scoreless draw in the first meeting of 2015 in April.
1x2 3-Way Lines:
RSL Pk -105
KC Pk -115
Total O/U 2.5:
Quick Analysis & Prediction
The only quick analysis we need here is the fact that Real Salt Lake simply needs to get back to basics and learn how to move the ball. Nothing can come from a single shot on goal night in and night out, and if that is how they plan on beating Sporting KC, they are in for a rude awakening.
As hot as Sporting is right now, this might be the last team RSL needs to see come to Rio Tinto Stadium, so we will get right to our prediction.
To see this Sporting KC Pk at -115, expecting them to come out of Utah with no less than a draw, seems the perfect opportunity to grab the away side here.
We do not expect much goal scoring obviously, and if anyone has the talent to find the net, it is Kansas City, so the Pk, Draw no Bet action with Sporting goes in as our recommendation for the final game of the weekend.
