MLS Soccer Betting: NYCFC vs Real Salt Lake
Friday, May 22nd, 2015By Ej Garr
MLS Odds:NYCFC will make their first ever appearance at Rio Tinto Stadium, but it will not be unfamiliar territory for their coach Jason Kreis. Kreis was not the only one to make the move to New York this off-season from RSL ,as Chris Wingert, Ned Grabavoy and Sebastian Velasquez will also be making their return to Utah for the first time. Grabavoy is still dealing with a pelvis injury, but did return to practice this week in hopes of getting back to the lineup for this game.
Last weekend's game with the Chicago Fire was one for the ages, and we are still dumbfounded as to how they managed a 2 - 2 draw at Yankee Stadium. RJ Allen picked up a red card after a tackle in the box, giving Chicago an opportunity to make it 2 - 0 from the ensuing penalty kick.
Jeff Larentowicz converted the kick from the spot, and the Fire seemed well on their way to a win as they were up two goals and also up a man for the last hour of the game. Unforutnately, the Fire proceeded to fall apart, and let NYC back in the game just as the first half was coming to an end.Mehdi Ballouchy scored in the first added minute of the first half to at least pull the game closer at 2 - 1.
Playing the entire second half down a man, NYC was able to keep Chicago out of their net, while managing yet another extra time goal as rookie Khiry Shelton tied the game at two in the first minute of added time, completing an unlikely comeback that really should never have happened.
Salt Lake comes off an absolute humiliation last weekend. They let Montreal convert four goals, which could have been five had Ignacio Patti converted a penalty kick in the 43rd minute.
This will be RSL’s first game of three over the next week, as they face a two-game road trip after this game. They will face the defending champion LA Galaxy in three days, and the Whitecaps next weekend at BC Place.

Quick Analysis & Prediction
So do we attribute the NYCFC comeback last weekend against Chicago to New York for holding it together, or blame Chicago for letting it happen?
Naturally, that type of result, when you are down a man and down two goals with an hour to play, has got to lift up the team. We all know NYCFC needs to start getting some big results to get back in the Eastern Conference race, and that type of performance certainly builds character.
After seeing RSL get completely dismantled last weekend, and also seeing NYC score twice while playing 10 vs 11, it is our recommendation that this Over 2.5 has some value, especially at +120 on the action.
We should see a 2 - 1 scoreline when this one is said and done, and that is all we will need to walk home with a winning ticket.
