MLS Soccer Betting: NY Red Bulls vs Vancouver

MLS Odds: The Vancouver Whitecaps resume their five-match road trip this weekend, as they visit the Red Bullson Saturdayin Harrison, New Jersey. After a loss in Montreal to kick-off the trip, the Caps rebounded nicely with a 1 - 0 win against the defending champion LA Galaxy. With a bye week last weekend, Coach Carl Robinson gave the team five days off to regroup. "It was a well-deserved break after a hectic few months, and it has done a world of good for everyone,” says Robinson on the team website. I wanted them to come back re-energized, and they have ... they’ve been looking very lively.”
With one more road win, Vancouver is set to break their MLS team record with five wins away from home, and already have the best record in the Western Conference, with 13 points in their travels.
The Whitecaps are looking for their first back-to-back wins since the first month of the season, when they reeled off four straight wins after the season opening loss to Toronto. They have now pulled within three points of Seattle for top spot in the Western Conference and, with the state of the Sounders currently, Seattle could find themselves in first place with some positive results to finish out the road trip.
The New York Red Bulls are simply not playing well lately, although they did advance in the U.S Open Cup this week with a win over the Atlanta Silverbacks. The team's MLS home page seems to think they have found their 'killer instinct' as a result of the win, but the Silverbacks are the worst team in the NASL and have only won a single game in 2015.
They will get their next big test in the U.S Open Cup, when they host the New York Cosmos onJuly 1stat Red Bull Arena. The Red Bulls bowed out to the Cosmos in last year's version of the Cup in the fourth round, but the match was at Shuart Stadium in Long Island, home of the Cosmos. The Cosmos got by the other New York team this week in the U.S Cup, defeating NYCFC in penalty kicks at Shuart Stadium, after a 2 - 2 score after extra time couldn't decide the winner (I know, because I was there!).
The Red Bulls have now fallen to a fifth place tie with Columbus in the Eastern Conference, having only one win to show for their last eight outings. They have been doubled up over that stretch, being outscored 14 - 7, and will have a quick turn-around, with Real Salt Lake coming to Red Bull Arena in three days.
5 MLS Meetings:
The two teams have only met five times in MLS action since 2011, with Vancouver leading the series having 2 Wins and 3 Draws.

Quick Analysis & Prediction
If the Red Bulls think a win over Atlanta in the U.S Open Cup brings back some type of killer instinct, then they have another thing coming. Of course all coaches and players see the positives, and try to pacify the negatives, but that was certainly not some type of epic performance. Lloyd Sam came off the field in that match, although we are hearing he should be able to go this weekend against the Caps. The Caps come into the game refreshed, as coach Robinson mentioned, with a bye week, and some time away from the game as a team. They return to camp invigorated and ready to plow through the summer portion of the schedule.
We are certainly going to grab this +0.5 handicap on the Whitecaps in this one, and the -125 line is not all that outrageous.
The Caps can certainly come out of Red Bull Arena with some type of a result, and that is all we need, because a record setting road win or even a draw will cash the ticket for us.
