MLS Odds: Did you read our previews that were offered last season here at Diamond Sportsbook? Yours truly was the one posting all of last year's MLS previews, and I will be here all year doing it again. I say this, hoping that you remember how we rode Montreal all down the stretch of the season last year, and all they did was pay us time and again!
The Impact is also plowing through Champions League at the moment, headed to the semi-finals against Costa Rican-side Alajuelense. Montreal GK Evan Bush has been outstanding for the club since he came here in 2011 when the club was with the NASL, and has solidified his spot as its future.
DC United earned the best record in the Eastern Conference in 2014, but they were unable to take advantage of it, and were taken out by the NY Red Bulls 3 - 2 on aggregate. They also lost the first leg 2 - 0 in New York, although they did find a 2 - 1 win in their home leg of the tie. The Red Bulls found the only away goal in the series and it was enough to knock United out of the post season earlier than they expected.
The United comes into the 2015 season favored to be at least in the top 4, and with a mere 9-to-1 offer on their chances to take home the MLS Cup. Only Seattle, Los Angeles and New England are being given better odds than they are.
Defensively, it was clear that the team knew how important it was to keep the ball out of their own net. They matched the Galaxy with a league-leading 37 Goals Against in 2014.
United brings in Finnish National Markus Halsti, who has spent the last 7 years with Malmo in Sweden. They also added Mikael Farfan to the club, who spent 3 years in a Union uniform. Costa Rican National Jairo Arrieta comes over to provide a presence up front for the club, which they will desperately need with the absence of Eddie Johnson. Johnson has not been medically cleared to start the season. They will also lose Fabian Espindola for the first 6 games of the year as a result of a suspension. Chris Rolfe and Chris Pontius will fill the midfield, and have to hold their own early in the campaign to fill the voids of Johnson and Espindola.

Quick Analysis & Prediction Quick Analysis:
Montreal has started the year the same way they ended 2014. We could see that they were getting it together as the season came to a close, despite coming in last place in the Eastern Conference.
DC United rode their defense to the best record in the Eastern Conference last year, but have had a suspect pre-season thus far, and the club is as concerned as we are.
Ironically, Alajuelense is the team that just knocked out United in the Champions League, and now Montreal will be playing them in 2 weeks in the Semi's. It is not hard to like the brand of soccer Montreal plays, and this team has figured out how to get results time and again.
We are starting 2015 where we ended it, and taking Montreal and the +0.5 at -115. They have our respect, and we will see how far it takes them this year.
