MLS Soccer Betting: Kansas City vs Houston
Friday, April 24th, 2015By Ej Garr
MLS Odds: Both the Kansas City and Houston clubs are looking to extend their defensive records at BBVA Compass Stadium, as Sporting KC has kept four straight clean sheets in Houston. This covers a 375-minute shutout streak that dates back to the 2012 postseason. Houston's net minder Tyler Deric, is leading MLS in saves this year. He has only allowed four goals, one of which was a complete fluke on a poorly handled back pass from his defender.
Both teams are now in the Western Conference, thanks to the expansion when NYCFC and Orlando joined the Eastern Conference this year. Both teams also saw each other in the Eastern Conference post season from 2011- 13.
Kansas City's defense leads MLS with 193 interceptions, which is at least 33 more than any other team. In addition, KC also leads with 458 duels won and 165 aerial duels won. They come off of their second loss of the season last weekend, in a 2 - 1 defeat to defending champion LA Galaxy. As soon as it appeared that both teams would be settling for a draw, Galaxy defender Omar Gonzalez found the net in the 94th minute of extra time.
The only goal that Houston has allowed at home this year was that fluky goal to Orlando City SC that really should never have happened. It was also the only thing keeping Tyler Deric from having four clean sheets at home.

Quick Analysis & Prediction
Dom Dwyer will be making his 50th start for the club this weekend and has scored in each of his last three matches against Houston. If he plays 76 minutes of the match, he will surpass the 5,000 minutes played mark for the team. Houston's Brad Davis has 27 game-winning assists at home, which is the most in the history of the league. His 113 assists in the regular season are the 4th most in MLS history, and his next assist will tie former Striker Carlos Valderrama for 3rd on the assist list. Benny Feilhaber leads all of MLS with five dimes, although the team only has six goals on the season.
This match may be promoted as a defensive showdown, but there is also a chance that we could see some offense during the game at BBVA Compass Stadiumthis Saturday.
The shutout streak for KC in Houston is obviously noteworthy, but Kansas City being shut down in this one will not be an easy task.
Sporting KC leads the league with 24 chances created from set pieces and they are rank second in the league with 46 successful chances in the 18, and third with 73 chances created. It is obviously not from a lack of effort that KC has only scored seven goals this year, and they surely know about the streak of shutting Houston down in their park.
This game could potentially end in a 1 - 1 draw, but the confidence that KC has gained from their previous games here is something that we shouldn’t leave out of this analysis.
We are suggesting a value play on KC and the Pk handicap Draw no Bet line of +115, expecting them to find some type of result at BBVA. We can only hope they go out and get three points, but at least a draw will do us no harm.
