MLS Soccer Betting: Kansas City vs Colorado
Friday, June 26th, 2015By Ej Garr
MLS Odds: Sporting Kansas City hope to once again utilize their home field advantage, when they host the Colorado Rapids this upcoming weekend at Sporting Park. The Colorado Rapids have an ugly history in Kansas City, not having won here in league play since September, 2002. The two have played in Kansas City 28 times in all competitions since the 1998 season, and the Rapids have two MLS wins and two U.S Open Cup wins in total. The Rapids did win here in 2010, but that was a U.S Open Cup affair.
However, Colorado does have a lot of good things happening away from home this year. They are leading all of MLS with only two losses, while also allowing a league-low five goals in their travels. The problem for this Rapids club has been settling for draws all too often in 2015.
With nine draws through 16 games played, it is hard to move up the table one point at a time. The Rapids are currently five points behind the Houston Dynamo for the bottom spot in the Western Conference.
The Rapids are playing their second of three games over an eight-day span, while trying to pick up the pieces from a 2 - 0 loss to Orlando City to get the week-long stretch started.Once again, Orlando City did what they have done all season, winning the possession battle, while putting over 20 shots towards the frame in the win. Cyle Larin and Kaka scored three minutes apart just after the hour mark, and the Rapids were unable to crack GK Tally Hall, who was playing in net for the absent Donovan Ricketts, while away with the Jamaican National Team competing in the Copa America.
Colorado will head to Houston's BBVA Compass Stadium to take on the Dynamo in the U.S Open Cup round of 16 onJune 30, rounding out the three game trip, before returning home to face Vancouver onJuly 4.
Sporting Kansas City is in search of their sixth straight home win, if we include the U.S Open Cup outing, and is still the only team in the West to have not suffered a defeat in front of their own fans. They have never had a five-game win streak in their newly built Sporting Park, but did have a seven-game win streak at home, when they were still playing at Arrowhead Stadium back in 2000.
Since GK Tim Melia has taken over in net for KC, hehas a 4-1-2 record through his first seven MLS starts, which includes four clean sheets and a league-best 0.71 goals against average. The one loss in that record came last weekend, after a 93rd minute goal from RSL's Olmes Garcia, settling a 1 - 1 difference late in the match. Dom Dwyer pitched in his fifth goal of the season to make it 1 - 1 on the half-hour mark, in a game that saw 24 fouls and seven yellow cards.
With a home win this weekend, Sporting KC will become the fourth team in MLS history to win 250 regular season games, as Dallas is also on the brink of the achievement themselves. Ironically, Kansas City will be hosting Dallas in the U.S Open Cup round of 16 onJuly 1at Sporting Park.

Quick Analysis & Prediction
For us, the -145 on the 3-Way action with KC at home, is of course out of our comfort zone when it comes to the ROI (Return On Investment), so we will have to look elsewhere to find some action on this board.
We know that Sporting KC absolutely owns the Rapids at home in the history of the series, and scoring goals has not been a problem for KC in the series recently as well.
We do recognize that Colorado is 8 - 1 to the Under in their last 9 MLS outings, but we will turn to thought of not being recognized as simply a trend follower to come up with our suggestions, and take the opposite approach. We will hope to find three goals in this one, with Colorado certainly having the ability to put up enough shots, as we have seen they can do, but just don't put enough on frame when all is said and done.
These two will meet for a third time in August, as they are again Western Conference rivals, as they were for many years before the realignment that sent KC to the East for a time being.
We have to again go with the expectation of goal scoring in this one, and we are putting a lot of totals on the board this weekend around MLS, it seems if you read our other previews.
The Over 2.5 at a reasonable +100 or so, depending on the time you get the play in, is our offer for the match at Sporting Park, and Kansas City will hopefully keep that home streak in line by scoring goals at home, as each team preps for a U.S Cup match in a few days.
