Saturday, October 3rd, 2015By Ej Garr
MLS Odds: FC Dallas enters the Texas derby against Houston, looking for their second straight sweep of the season series over the Dynamo, with the ability to clinch a playoff spot in the Western Conference. Dallas can notch their spot in the post-season with a win over their Texas rivals, combined with a San Jose loss or draw against Vancouver this weekend, potentially making their second straight playoff appearance out of the West.
A season ago, Dallas came in fourth place in the conference, and advanced past Vancouver in a one game knockout round to face Seattle in the conference semifinals. With a 1 - 1 home outing in the first leg, Dallas was unable to score in the second leg, and Seattle advanced on the strength of the away goal to face the Galaxy in the Western Conference finals.
Dallas has won six consecutive outings against Houston, two of which came in the U.S Open Cup in 2013 and 2014, with four straight wins in MLS action in their favor.
In the two meetings this year, Dallas has outscored the Dynamo 6 - 1, winning the first meeting at BBVA Compass Stadium 4 - 1 onMay 1, while taking the second encounter 2 - 0 here at Toyota Stadium onJune 26.
Dallas enters the weekend with 47 points in third place in the West, while Houston sits three points behind the Portland Timbers who are holding onto the sixth and final spot that earns a spot in the post-season.
The schedule for Dallas will only give them two days off to prepare for their next outing in Vancouver, and they will also play host to the Whitecapsnext Wednesday.
With only two days off again, Dallas will return home to face Real Salt Lake, which will put Dallas on the field four times in 14 days. They will finish the regular season at home against San Jose onOctober 25.
The Dynamo has won their last two games, and will only have two games remaining in their regular season after this outing. To make it even tougher, they will have to face Seattle and Vancouver who enter this weekend in the top four of the Western Conference standings and are looking to increase their positions in search of home field advantage in the post-season.
Houston came away with a 3 - 2 win last weekend over Colorado with three different goal scorers helping the cause. After Leonel Miranda got the scoring started for Houston in the third minute of the game, Colorado quickly answered just five minutes later to level the score at one.
Houston again took the lead in the 24th minute after Giles Barnes took a feed from Will Bruin, who essentially created both of the scoring opportunities in the first half. Bruin found Barnes alone at the top of the 18-yard box, just needing to direct the ball to an open net after two horrible defensive breakdowns led to the opportunity.
The Rapids equalized the game with one minute remaining in the first half, but it took only two minutes in to the second half to decide the match.
Will Bruin just missed a header chance after a cross from Miranda from the right flank, and Brad Davis picked up the loose ball, finding the bottom right corner of the Rapids net to seal the win.

Total O/U 2.5:
Quick Analysis & Prediction
These two know each other quite well obviously, and goals have been the theme in the series, as six of the last seven meetings have gone Over the total.
With Houston clicking the way they did against the Rapids last weekend, and Dallas giving up three goals in their last two outings against Kansas City and Los Angeles, you might be able to guess where that will lead us pertaining to action on this outing.
Why settle for the 2.5 with a -140 offer, when we have the ability to move the line to a straight 3 and get a heck of an offer of +120 on the Over?
You know we love our totals around here, and this is yet another opportunity to see at worst a 2 - 1 game to push our action. The Over 3 at +120 makes our board in theSundayaffair at Toyota Stadium.
