MLS Soccer Betting: Columbus vs Chicago
Saturday, July 18th, 2015By Ej Garr
MLS Odds: The Columbus Crew and Chicago Fire switch venues after aWednesdaynight affair at Toyota Park, where the Columbus Crew picked up their first road win of the season. Now it is Chicago's attempt to win their first road game of 2015, as they are the last remaining team in the Eastern Conference to not have broken into the win column.
It was only fitting that the Crew scored their goal in the first half against the Fire this week, as the statistics were vastly in favor of Columbus through the first 45 minutes. With a 61 / 39 possession advantage while limiting the Fire to no shots on goal in the first half, the Crew outshot the Fire 10 - 3, and with their fourth shot on frame, Kei Kamara found the back of the net in the 41st minute with an assist from Ethan Finlay.
With the Crew in transition, Justin Meram caught Ethan Finlay making a run alone down the right side of the field. Finlay eased closer to the goal, and snapped off a crossing pass to Kei Kamara, who rose up and smashed a header opportunity inside the near post to take a 1 - 0 lead, and essentially gave the Crew three points. There were seven Fire players in the box, and all of them watched Finlay simply loft a ball to Kamara who scored his league leading 13th goal of the campaign.
Note to all MLS teams: You might want to mark Kei Kamara if you plan on beating the Crew!
As the Fire attempt to rebound from the mid-week loss at home to the Crew, they will only have two days to prepare for their quarterfinals match against Orlando City in the U.S Open Cup upon exiting MAPFRE Stadium.
The Fire will again only have two days to prepare for their MLS match with New England at home onJuly 25, putting the Fire on the field five times in 15 days, dating back to their match with Seattle on July 11.
The Fire will be without two defensemen, one midfielder and two forwards this weekend.
MF Shaun Maloney is closer to returning to the lineup, but is not quite there yet with the bulging disc issues he is dealing with.
Defenders Jeff Larentowicz and Ty Harden will not be available, and forwards Guly do Prado and David Accam will also be sitting this one out.
The Crew is as close to fully healthy as Coach Gregg Berhalter can ask with 14 games remaining in their regular season, as only defender Hector Jimenez appears on the MLS injury report this week.

Quick Analysis & Prediction
Columbus has a much lighter schedule than that of the Fire, as they have one remaining game in July with Toronto at home, before hitting the road for two games against Orlando City and Colorado to start August.
The Fire remain in the Eastern Conference basement by three points, while the Crew are doing all they can to catch DC United, sitting eight points back of the conference leaders entering this weekend, although United will have played their match before this game takes place.
This is another one of those situations where we hope to catch the line setters completely asleep at the wheel, and, hopefully, whomever set this line at -110 on the 3-Way never loses their job and keeps offering such lines for us all to enjoy.
Columbus at home is simply a different animal, and to get their first road win against this exact Fire club just days ago, they will likely keep Chicago winless on the road untilAugust 7at least, which is the next time the Fire will have their chance to snap the string away from home.
Columbus -110 3-Way action to take all three points is the recommended play, and that is all she wrote for this weekend in MLS action.
