MLS Soccer Betting at BetDSI: Toronto vs New York City FC
Friday, June 19th, 2015By Ej Garr
MLS Odds: Toronto FC and New York City FC meet for the first time in any competitions this weekend, and the two teams enter the match with extremely different circumstances. Toronto FC has had two weeks off to prepare for their home game since defeating DC United 2- 1 at RFK Stadium on June 6.
This will be Toronto's first of three straight games at BMO field, as they will host Montreal onJune 24 and play DC United again to round out the home stand onJune 27, playing three games over an eight-day span. Toronto will be hitting the road for two games to start July, going from Los Angeles to New York, before returning home again onJuly 18. With their recent stretch of results, the Reds now find themselves alone in fourth place in the Eastern Conference with 19 points and taking 10 of a possible 12 points in their last three MLS outings with three wins and a draw.
Jozy Altidore made his return from injury in the DC United game, playing 10 minutes as a substitute in the 2 - 1 win on June 6, and is likely to be back in the starting lineup for the first time in well over a month. Sebastian Giovinco scored the game winning goal in just one minute after Altidore took the field. DC United took a 1 - 0 lead in the sixth minute of the game, but Giovinco's brace tied him for third in MLS in scoring, with seven goals on the season.
NYCFC enters the match on a sour note, after losing their U.S Open Cup outing against the New York Cosmoson Wednesdayat Shuart Stadium, in Long Island, NY. They seemed to have the victory in hand, having a 2 - 0 lead early in the second half, but the Cosmos scored in the 65th and 90th minutes to level the game, which eventually ended in a shootout. The Cosmos took a 4 - 3 penalty kick win, and now NYCFC will only have two days to prepare for Toronto.
After 120 minutes on the harsh turf of Shuart Stadium, the team is, of course, trying to stay positive, as evident from the comments made by midfielder Tony McNamara and Coach Kreis on the team page.
“It’s disappointing obviously to go out on penalties, but the good thing is we have a game coming up so quick, with the opportunity to get that bitter taste out of our mouth,” says McNamara after the Open Cup game
Coach Kreis reiterated the thoughts of McNamara, saying, “It’s good we have another match we have to focus on very quickly, but it’s bad because we had to play 120 minutes on turf, and then play againon Saturday.”
NYCFC has certainly gotten back on track in league play, taking seven of a possible 9 points in their last three outings, with two wins and a draw, but are still at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings, tied with Chicago and Montreal with 14 points.

Quick Analysis & Prediction
As mentioned, the two teams enter the game with a different mindset, as Toronto is rested and NYCFC is coming off the disheartening loss to the Cosmos just two days ago.
NYCFC has the Red Bulls on deck next weekend as well, so there is no rest for the weary, and playing 120 minutes on turf will surely have an impact on the team.
With the return of Altidore, and Bradley also making his return from international duty, the Reds enter the match with high hopes and look to take advantage of a tired NYCFC team. So, that will affect our prediction for this game.
The -135 price on Toronto at home is on the edge of our comfort zone as far as juice goes, so we would rather turn to the total, seeing a -115 line with the expectation of some goals being scored.
We are going to suggest the Over 2.5 at -115, still expecting Toronto to come out with three points with a 2 - 1 type of result, so the Over makes the most sense to us, expecting some late goals from tired legs on the NYC side of the field.
