MLS Soccer Betting at BetDSI: Seattle vs DC United
Thursday, July 2nd, 2015By Ej Garr
MLS Odds: The Seattle Sounders have relinquished first place in the Western Conference, and will have to go into battle for the near future without their two big stars. Obafemi Martins and Clint Dempsey will again be out of the lineup for the Sounders, as Martins recovers from his groin injury and Dempsey has already joined the U.S team in preparation for the Gold Cup. Dempsey got more bad news this week, as he was informed that he will serve a two-year ban from U.S Open Cup play, although he has already served his three-match suspension in MLS action.
Seattle has gone 0 - 3 in their last three games since losing to Portland in the U.S Open Cup, and have been without their two front men ever since. They have been outscored 7 - 1, and are coming off a 4 - 1 beat down at the hands of the Timbers again this past weekend.
The Timbers took an early 1 - 0 lead in the 12th minute, but Seattle did find an equalizer just before halftime, with a goal from Lamar Neagle at the 38th minute of play. Portland scored three unanswered second half goals, which included a brace from Fanendo Adi that came only two minutes apart in the 74th and 76th minutes respectively.
DC United goalkeeper Bill Hamid has earned two straight clean sheets in MLS action, although United does come off a disheartening 2 - 1 loss to Philadelphia in the U.S Open Cup. The Union's C.J Sapong was shown a straight red card in the 24th minute of the game, and DC United quickly responded with a goal just three minutes later from Jairo Arrieta to take a 1 - 0 lead.
Philadelphia scored twice in the second half while playing 10 vs 11 to earn their way to the quarterfinals, where they will face the NY Red Bulls later in July.
DC United will have a full two weeks off after this outing, and will face Dallas in Texas onJuly 18, while hosting a rematch of the U.S Open Cup outing with Philadelphia onJuly 25. DC United will only play three games in the month of July on their MLS schedule.

Quick Analysis & Prediction
This could have been a battle of two first place teams from their respective conferences had Seattle not been hit with injuries and suspension to their two big names on the front line.
With Seattle headed for even more time without Martins and Dempsey in the lineup, things might only get worse as July moves on.
We are trying to figure out what the line setters are seeing, placing a -105 on Seattle to come away with three points on the 3-Way line. We did shy away from fading Seattle last time out, assuming the Under might be a better play against Portland last time out.
We will not make that mistake again, and until Martins and Dempsey return to the Sounders lineup there is not a chance we would invest a single dime on this Seattle club, home or not. DC United and the +0.5 handicap line at -115 is more than a reasonable offer in our opinion, as a United win or draw to cash that ticket could easily come our way.
As long as Bill Hamid is in the United lineup, they have a chance to get a result no matter where they play, despite the 2 - 1 loss to Philly in the Cup, which is still hard to believe happened, being up a man and a goal, only to lose 2 - 1.
United is simply the better team no matter the venue, so let's see if they can manage any type of result to cash our ticketson Fridaynight at CenturyLink Field.
