MLS Soccer Betting at BetDSI: Real Salt Lake vs Sporting KC
Thursday, July 23rd, 2015By Ej Garr
MLS Odds: Real Salt Lake and Sporting Kansas City may be playing their final regular season game this weekend at Rio Tinto Stadium, but this will not be the last time these two face off this season. RSL and Sporting both advanced in the U.S Open Cup quarterfinals, and will face off in the semifinals when the two meet again at Sporting Park onAugust 12.
Sporting KC enters the weekend with a five-match win streak, which includes their U.S Open Cup win over Houston on July 21 at Sporting Park. This outing in Utah will be Sporting's third match over an eight-day span, and their second attempt at putting together back-to-back road wins, something they have failed to accomplish thus far in 2015.
They have only obtained nine of their 33 points on the season away from home, but are still within two points of first place Dallas in the Western Conference standings.
Sporting has outscored their last five opponents in all competitions 14 - 4, although their win in the U.S Open Cup this pastTuesdayagainst Houston didn't come as easy as the 3 - 1 final score may make it appear.
Houston's Luis Garrido was handed a straight red card a half-hour in to the match, although that did not stop the Dynamo from scoring first in the game.
Will Bruin put Houston up 1 - 0 just before the hour mark, and while playing a man down, looked to have a chance to move on to the semifinals. Dom Dwyer missed a penalty kick with a chance to equalize the game just three minutes after Bruin gave the Dynamo the lead, which gave Houston even more confidence that they might be able to walk out of Sporting Park with a result.
The wheels fell off for the Dynamo as the 71st minute rang in, as Benny Felhaber scored to level the game at one, and the writing was on the wall as to what would happen next. Dom Dwyer and Krisztian Nemeth each scored within three minutes of each other in the 86th and 88th minute, and the Dynamo were sent packing out of the U.S Open Cup.
As we mentioned, Real Salt Lake also advanced to the semifinals of the Open Cup, which will lead to a rematch of these two teams on August 12.
RSL's 1 - 0 victory over MLS champion LA Galaxy came on July 14 at Rio Tinto Stadium, and they backed up that victory with a 2 - 0 win over Houston at home last weekend.
Real sits six points out the final playoff spot in the Western Conference as we enter the round of matches this weekend, and they have been inconsistent all season. Real has not won back-to-back league games since they defeated Toronto and San Jose at the end of March and beginning of April.
In Real's victory over Houston last weekend, they completely controlled the first half of the game, and dominated the stat sheet. Salt Lake outshot the Dynamo 7 - 0 through the first 45 minutes, while not allowing a single shot on goal and winning the possession battle 62/38.
With a 1 - 0 lead from a first-half goal from Javier Morales in tow, Houston's Kofi Sarkodie picked up a red card just six minutes into the second half, forcing the Dynamo to finish the game 10 v 11, and succumbed to a second goal from RSL's Joao Plata to seal the deal.

Quick Analysis & Prediction
Well, all our readers know that we are not shy about jumping on a total here and there, and this might just give us another golden opportunity to play a favorable line with the expectation of some goals to be scored.
We know Sporting's defense has certainly stepped it up lately, only allowing four goals in the last five overall games, but none of those were against Salt Lake, who we expect to have some success finding the net at home.
RSL has scored in all eight of their last home games, scoring twice on five of those occasions, while Sporting has given up 12 goals in their eight road games.
Again we hope to catch the line setters sleeping on this line. To see an offer of +115 with the expectation of a 2 - 1 type of game, is more than reasonable to throw our action towards this total.
Some may assume we could see a draw with the lines we see offered on the 3-Way action, as many common handicappers out there predict when we see lines of +165 and +186 on the sides.
We do not see a draw coming here, and someone is going to find that late goal to cash our Over 2.5 tickets at +115 when it is all said and done at Rio Tinto Stadiumon Fridaynight.
