MLS Odds: Next goal wins! It was quite an uneventful 1st leg, but one Salt Lake can take in not surrendering any away goals in a 0 - 0 home Draw. With 69 goals in the regular season, the Galaxy easily led the league in both Goals For and Goals Against with 69 and 37 respectively.

Salt Lake was not far behind on the defensive side of the ball with only 39 GA, so it was not a 100% shock to see a low scoring 1st Leg. Real will have to come up with something in LA to move on.

As we have mentioned in the other threads that Road Goals are now the tie breaking procedure for advancement, so a 1 - 1 draw would actually mean that Salt Lake moves on.

Real Manager Jeff Cassar was quoted on the team page as saying,"“If we go in there and start to sit back on them and think that's going to be enough and we're going to get one chance, we're going to absorb too much pressure. They have too much quality. We have to come in and play our game”

    Quick Analysis & Prediction

    Quick Analysis:

All the pressure is certainly on LA here. When Landon Donovan did the post-game interview after the 0 - 0 Draw in Utah, he tried to make it sound like the mission is clear now to go home and get a result, and he said, "I like our chances at home."

Why wouldn't he, as they have 1 loss in LA the entire season, so it does bode well for them. With that said though, they have not won a match in their last 4 overall, while Real Salt Lake have not given up a single goal in their last 4 matches.

    Prediction:

How is the +1 on Real Salt Lake even sitting there? No one, including LA, has scored on this club in well over 400 minutes, dating back to the Chivas match.

I will gladly give Real Salt Lake the respect of keeping this at an, at worst, 1 goal match, and if LA wins 1 - 0 and moves on, so be it, no harm done. Real will not walk in here afraid to go out and force the issue, so it may be a deadlocked scoreless Draw through halftime again. I will take Real and the handicap, expecting them to not just get walked on all of a sudden.
