MLS Odds: The Houston Dynamo and Real Salt Lake enter this weekend on the outside of the playoff chase in the Western Conference standings and, with only 14 games remaining in the regular season, time is quickly running out to stay in the hunt. The Dynamo will be playing two games in four days, as they will make the trip to Sporting Park to continue on in the quarterfinals of the U.S Open Cup.

Houston enters this weekend on the heels of their 2 - 0 win vs San Jose last time out. We will gladly blow our own horn as we offered Houston's Pk at +170 in that match. Tyler Deric made his return in net, and was only required to make three saves, while holding the Quakes to a clean sheet in the process.

The Dynamo will return home to face the Galaxy and wrap up the July schedule, and will again face Sporting KC and San Jose in their first two matches in August. They will then face a three-game road trip to New England, Portland and Colorado.

The Dynamo will be without DeMarcus Beasley this weekend, as he will be joining the U.S National Team for the duration of the Gold Cup. Fellow defender Corey Ashe was traded to Orlando City this week as well, so the back line will see some modifications this weekend.

Real Salt Lake will be playing their fifth home game in their last six outings in all competitions, which includes two home wins in the U.S Open Cup. They became the first team to move on to the semifinals with their 1 - 0 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy on July 14, where they will face the winner of the Sporting KC / Houston quarterfinal match.

Ironically, RSL will face Houston this weekend, and Sporting Kansas Citynext Fridayin league play, so they will have some familiarity with whomever moves on to face them in the semis.

Real Salt Lake has earned 15 of their 23 points this season at Rio Tinto Stadium, with only one loss against them this year. The one problem they have faced is settling for draws all too often, as they lead the league in home draws with six.

In Salt Lake’s most recent outing against Colorado, Sebastian Jaime was sent off with a red card, and that will make him unavailable for this weekend's match against Houston. He is the team leader in goals scored with four on the year. Of course Kyle Beckerman is still playing with the U.S team in the Gold Cup, which leaves two significant players out of the mix this weekend.

Jamison Olave took a step backwards in his attempts to get back on the field, and will likely be out longer than expected, according to a quote on the team’s home page from Coach Jeff Cassar.

    Quick Analysis & Prediction

    Quick Analysis:

Houston has played 11 times in Utah, and has only two wins to show for their efforts. The last time they won there was in the 2007 season, winning once in their last nine outings against RSL on the road.

Without Beckerman and Jaime in the lineup, it is going to make it a tough task to continue their winning ways against the Dynamo, so let's see if we can take advantage of that with our prediction on this one.

If Houston giveth, then we can hope they do not taketh away, because the +170 cashed ticket against San Jose last weekend will again give us confidence to put Houston's Pk Draw no Bet handicap on the board this weekend.

The offer of +135 on the action will hopefully catch the line setters sleeping on a Salt Lake team that is not at full complement, and without their leading scorer.

Houston +135 Pk makes our sheet this weekend as the away side, and hopefully they come through for us once again.
