MLS Soccer Betting at BetDSI: Portland vs Montreal
Friday, May 8th, 2015By Ej Garr
MLS Odds: Portland starts a three-game road trip this weekend, as they head to Saputo Stadium to face Montreal who has not played a league match since April 11. Once again, the Timbers relied on their defense last weekend, coming up with a 0 - 0 draw against Vancouver, who at the time were in first place in the Western Conference standings. However, the problem still remains on the offensive end of the field, as they have only scored once in their last four outings.
Not only did they only manage a single shot on goal against Vancouver, but Darlington Nagbe couldn't even convert a free chance from the spot, after missing a penalty kick just after the half-hour mark of the game.
Montreal has not taken the field in league play since April 11, as they have been competing in both the CONCACAF Champions League finals with Club America - who ironically enough are from Mexico -- and the Canadian Championships as well.
The Impact lost their Champions League battle to Club America, but have a 1 - 0 lead in their tie with Toronto in the Amway Canadian Championships. The second leg with Toronto will come onMay 13at BMO Field.
With most of MLS having played nine or 10 matches on the year, the Impact has still only played four league matches and are alone in the Eastern Conference basement, with only two points to show from two draws this season. They will play 11 games in September and October to make up for the early season spent away from league play.
Last 3 MLS Meetings:
The two have only met 3 times in MLS action, although they have quite a history in first division USL days.
Montreal leads the MLS series with 2 wins and 1 loss.

Quick Analysis & Prediction
We obviously don't have much to work with here, since Montreal has been out of the MLS loop for about a month’s time.
Portland only has one win on the road this year in four games played, which came at Yankee Stadium against NYCFC on April 19.
Montreal only has two goals to show for their four overall games played in the 2015 season, so we understand why the line setters would put the -135 juice on the Under 2.5 in this spot.
We are going to against the grain here, and expect some goal scoring to take place.
Call it a hunch, but Portland is going to snap out of this scoring funk soon enough, and Montreal just getting back in to league play, have a lot to do to get back in the flow of league play.
We see a 2 - 1 match here, and the +115 on the Over 2.5 is the suggestion we offer. Portland will likely be the squad who finds those two goals. The Portland defense should be able to contain the Impact attack for the most part, but not enough to see at least one sneak by them.
