MLS Odds: Amazingly, the Philadelphia Union are still in the thick of a playoff battle in the Eastern Conference, while the objective for the Columbus Crew is to overtake both the NY Red Bulls and DC United in search of a Supporters Shield. The Crew have only three points to make up to pull within a tie of first place DC United, and with United seemingly going backwards lately with three straight losses the door is wide open for Columbus to leap frog to the top of the Eastern Conference.

Columbus has suddenly become road warriors, after getting off to a horrific start in games played away from MAPFRE Stadium. Winners of three of their last four games on the road, the Crew have made the right adjustments after starting the season with a 0 - 3 - 6 road record.

Columbus was riding a four-game streak without a loss entering their game last weekend with Dallas, but Dallas came away with a 3 - 0 win as a result of many absences which actually effected both teams, as we discussed in the match preview last weekend.

The Crew will play four of their final six games on the road, and all six teams are chasing a playoff berth or are in playoff position.

Two games remain with DC United, as they will head to RFK Stadium next weekend, and wrap up the regular season at MAPFRE Stadium against the conference leaders as well.

The first two meetings of the season has gone to the home teams in emphatic fashion, as the Crew won the first battle in April at MAPFRE Stadium 4 - 1, while the Union took the June contest 3 - 0 here at PPL Park in the second meeting.

Philadelphia still has an ugly -10 ratio in goals for and against, but incredibly have only one point to make up on Montreal to track down the final playoff position in the Eastern Conference standings.

The Union will play host to Houston next weekend before making a trip to Gillette Stadium to finish out their September MLS schedule. They will also have their second opportunity in two years to take home the U.S Open Cup, as they will host Sporting Kansas City in the finals on September 30here at PPL Park.

Philadelphia will be without Cristian Maidana this weekend, as a result of him spitting on Lee Nguyen in extra time against New England two matches ago, while Fred and Maurice Edu join Zach Pfeffer on the sidelines with injuries.

    Quick Analysis & Prediction

    Quick Analysis:

Columbus expects to have most of their roster back after seeing a handful of players away from the team last week for international duty, which included Kei Kamara the league’s leading scorer.

We expect a fast-paced game with the weather starting to cool off on the east coast, as we see there is likely a high of 82 degrees with a chance of some rain in theSaturdayforecast for Philadelphia.

We know why the line setters have this total at 3, and we can assume you all know why it is there as well.

Three goals easily game in the first two meetings, and the more important the game in MLS playoff battles, the more likely we see balls in the back of the net.

The Over 3 at +100 makes out board, as we hope it makes yours as well.
