MLS Soccer Betting at BetDSI: Orlando City vs New York Red Bulls
Friday, July 17th, 2015By Ej Garr
MLS Odds: It took until mid-July, but the Red Bulls will finally meet Orlando City in MLS action this weekend, as the two meet at the Citrus Bowlon Saturdaynight. This is the first meeting between the teams in league play, although they did meet a year ago in the Pro World Classic, playing to a 4 - 4 draw when Orlando City was still in the USL Pro Division.
The Red Bulls enter the weekend in third place in the Eastern Conference standings, with Orlando City trailing by only two points in the chase for the post-season. New York has certainly gotten back on track of late, winning four of their last five games, which includes their victory over the New York Cosmos in the U.S Open Cup.
The Red Bulls will play host to Philadelphia onJuly 21in the quarterfinals, giving them only two days off to prepare upon leaving Florida after this match. Even stranger, Chelsea is still on the schedule just one day after the U.S Open Cup outing for the International Champions Cup, with Portugal's Benfica set to play at Red Bull Arena just four days later.
In their last outing, the Red Bulls came up with a convincing 4 - 1 win over struggling rivals New England, scoring three goals in 12 minutes to seal the deal early. Bradley Wright-Phillips scored the first and third of those goals, with the Lloyd Sam goal coming in between. Dax McCarty had two assists, which came on Wright-Phillips' second goal to make it 3 - 0, and on a goal by Anthony Wallace that made it 4 - 1.
Defenseman Brek Shea appears on the MLS injury report as questionable for some reason, and he is much more than simply questionable. Shea had successful hernia surgery this week, and will be out for the next two months, so let's put him down as OUT for a spell. Two others on the backline are likely out this weekend, as Aurelien Collin and Sean St. Ledger are dealing with injuries.
With Canada being knocked out of the Gold Cup early, Cyle Larin is set to return to the lineup this weekend for Orlando City, as will Darwin Cerén, whose El Salvador club was also knocked out after the group stage. Neither are expected to start, but both will be available off the bench according to head coach Adrian Heath.
The schedule is not forgiving for the Lions, as they will eventually be playing seven matches in 25 days. After defeating West Brom from Premier League just two days ago, Orlando City also has a date in the U.S Open Cup set forJuly 22against Chicago at Toyota Park, with a trip to Yankee Stadium on deck for next Sunday against NYCFC.
They will open August with a home game against Columbus on the 1st, followed by a road game in Canada against Toronto, and will return home on the 8th to face Philadelphia.

Quick Analysis & Prediction
Both clubs will be playing so much soccer for the next few weeks that we can expect changes on a daily basis from coaches Heath and Jesse Marsch.
Any significant injuries at this point could prove costly, but there is no room to take it easy with valuable points on the line, with each team having only 14 or 15 games left in the MLS regular season.
The Red Bulls have not exactly fared well away from home this season, with only two wins out of nine games played on the road.
Orlando City got off to a rough start to the season in front of their fans at the Citrus Bowl, as we documented week in and week out here at DSI. Those times have changed tremendously.
We see the Pk Draw no Bet action on the home side as the way to go in this one. At a reasonable -120, and the crowd on their side, we will hope that the issues that the Red Bulls have had on the road this year will carry over in to some type of result for the Lions.
Orlando City Pk at -120 is the offer we will make for our loyal readers this weekend.
