MLS Odds: After NYCFC were officially eliminated from post-season contention last time out against DC United, Orlando City continued to stay in the playoff conversation by earning their fourth straight victory as the regular season winds down. What a simpler time it was when they first met on opening weekend of the 2015 MLS season, as the two expansion franchises began playing together in the reformed Eastern Conference.

It wasMarch 8at the Citrus Bowl and Mix Diskerud had seemingly given the New Yorkers a leg up in the season series as regulation time was coming to a close. But, in a theme that rode through MLS this season with late goals that changed many an outcome this year around the league, the first of those happened between these two on opening day.

Kaka scored on a smashing set piece just outside the 18-yard box just as extra time began, to give each team a point to get their first year started in top flight MLS, and look how big that result is now.

Over 60,000 fans took part in opening the Citrus Bowl for the Orlando City Lions, and it took them six home games to earn their first MLS win. Ironically, it came against the defending champion Los Angeles Galaxy in a resounding 4 - 0 win.

After the rough start at home, Orlando City has only two losses in their last 13 home games between the U.S Open Cup and league play, and have 11 points from 3 wins and 2 draws in their last five home appearances.

The second meeting between the teams in July at Yankee Stadium was a stark contrast from the first meeting at the Citrus Bowl in March. It didn't look like much had changed as New York took a 1 - 0 halftime lead to the locker room as David Villa scored just as the 45 minute mark rang in. There were seven second-half goals scored in a 5 - 3 NYCFC home win, as each team went back and forth against each other seeming scoring at will.

Orlando City tied the match at one, just five minutes after the opening whistle of the second half, and the nets were found often from there. NYC took a 2 - 1 lead only to see it erased by Cyle Larin's second goal that made it 2 - 2 just after the hour mark. Villa scored his second goal to make it 3 - 2 and McNamara scored for NYC just four minutes later, to extend the lead to 4 - 2. Orlando City's Cyle Larin completed his hat-trick to make it 4 - 3, but New York's Diskerud put a nail in the coffin in the 93rd minute in extra time.

Arguably one of the most entertaining matches we had this season in all of MLS, as the Yankee Stadium crowd really got into the affair.

Now there is simply one goal for each team. New York City can do their best to deny Orlando City a post-season berth as the two expansion franchises put bragging rights on the line to see who will advance to the playoffs sooner than the other.

Orlando City is still alive, and has four points to make up on Montreal with only one game remaining against Philadelphia on the final weekend of the regular season. The Lions must come out of the Citrus Bowl with a win to stay in the conversation, but they also need the Montreal Impact to lose both of their final games of the year. The Impact will finish the year with a road game at New England, and a home game against rival Montreal on the final day of the regular season.

    Prediction:

NYC wants nothing more than to stand in the way of Orlando City's attempts at a post-season, as the two teams entered the league together this March with grand expectations.

Feel free to jack this total up to a straight 3, take the Over, and enjoy a night that we expect plenty of balls in the back of the net.

You can likely get +110 on the straightrather than settle for the Over 2.5 at -135, which is a bit too pricey for our pleasure.
